.45 ACP Revolver

Been thinking about getting one for my dad and dumping the Taurus .38 he has. It would be one less "different" caliber to keep ammo for and I like the better selection of ammo.

Any bad things about .45 ACP revolvers? Do they have to keep those "moon" clips?

S&W has a nice fancy Jerry Miculek 45ACP revolver.

Jerry is fast as hell, look on youtube.

You can shoot 45ACP with moon clip or 45 auto rim.

Some versions, you can shoot .460S&W, 45 Colt, etc.

Taurus is a nice gun.

I'd like to get a .45 ACP revolver and 10mm Auto revolver just to help me keep up with brass during load development.

If the chamber is cut to headspace off the front rim of cartridge you don't need halfmoon clips. I have a Ruger Blackhawk that I don't have to use halfmoon clips with. I am sure there must be others. Halfmoon clips=pain in the ass.

I think Smith made a model 25 or something like that. Never fired one, and they may be out of production now.

There should be lots of old surplus 45s from WWII.

Get the little tool that helps load/unload the clips.

And the clips break a lot, expecially the half moons, so get plenty.

Buy the Ruger with interchangeable cylinders for .45colt and .45acp. The only way to go in my opinion. No clips needed either....

Well I was reading another article about the Taurus last night and it said that you do not need to use the moon clips but without them the extractor (think that's what it's called) will not remove the shells
