I have this coming. It cost $485 shipped.

http://www.del-ton.com/Rifle_Kit_p/rkt104.htm

Cheaper Than Dirt has rear sights for $50.

Magazines are all over the place starting at $10

You can be shooting it for under $700.

When you get ready to install the lower parts kit, I would suggest using the vise grip method (in link below) for installing the trigger guard and bolt catch roll pins. It makes it a lot easier and as long as you mask the lower, you will have a lower risk of damaging the finish.

Also, pay careful attention to the arrangement of the springs. Reference the pics and you should be fine.

http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782

BTW, I assembled my Stag lower the other day. I really wish I had started with the vise grip method instead of trying to hammer the roll pin into the trigger guard. I didn't break the ear off, but did manage to damage the finish. I may go ahead and paint this lower some shade of tan, maybe Magpul Flat Dark Earth along with the upper stuff that I have yet to order.

More pieces showed up today.

Four 30-round CProducts magazines with MagPul followers from 44Mag.com.

Also picked up some ammo.

Still need the rifle kit and rear sights. The anticipation is killing me!

Just a $50 ProMag from Cheaper Than Dirt. I can't see spending $150-200 on a Troy.

Lookin good!

Oh, not sure if youve scoped out other ammo prices yet or not, but aimsurplus and ammoman.com have some good prices on wolf(cheap to shoot up) and Serb surplus...

Ammo prices arent getting any cheaper either, might as well stock up while you have the cash

A few in-progress pics.

The end.

I have some ammo so I just need to go to the range. The paperwork that came with it said any Wolf ammo or steel cased ammo will void the warranty.

Gotta research optics too.

Thanks. I really like how it turned out. I like the mid-length ones much better.

Then I have to get a sling, optics, carrying case, and so on....

I personally believe you'll be fine with wolf ammo or steel cased ammo. My bushmaster even recommends wolf ammo for the AR-15 (The paperwork that came with my rifle.).

A little over $700 after taxes, shipping and whatnot. If I bought just two magazines instead of four, it would've been more like $695.

I don't really know anything about AR15's and I have a question. Can you build an AR15 to fire .308 instead of .223?

Yes, it was everything but a stripped lower receiver.

Del-ton rifle kit
+ stripped lower receiver
+ magazine
+ ammo
----------------
fun at the range

If you choose a flat-top, you'll also need a rear sight. If you choose the A2 carrying handle one, it will have a rear sight built in.

the upper kits dont even need to go through an ffl right? just the lower and you got it local huh?

The removable carrying handle showed up today. I like this look better. It will come off when I decide to go with optics.

Finally got to shoot it.

The first three rounds hit the bottom section. The front post was adjusted and I was hitting the center. The upper group was 30 rounds at about one per second. As soon as the sight picture came back, I clicked off another one.

The silhouette represents a man sized target at 100 yards (according to the range officer).

Fun stuff.....

I picked up a Ciener .22LR Conversion Kit. All you do is pull out the bolt carrier group and swap in the conversion kit. Then shoot .22LR all day long. 500 rounds of .22LR runs around $12. 500 rounds of bulk 5.56 cost me $175. This conversion kit will pay itself off roughly halfway through my second $12 box of .22LR. The fun factor is still there even though it doesn't kick as much or sound as loud. You still go through the motions of loading, aiming, firing, etc.

Everywhere I checked online said 3-6 months backorder. On Target in Benbrook has 3-4 on their shelf. It cost me a few bucks more but I had it in my hands right there. If I ordered online, I'd still get in line behind everyone else that placed orders.
