686 or 686+ is a great choice, hold up well to hot .357 loads! Might try Big Town's monthly gun show, I usually see a couple there but they are mostly 2" or 6", 4" is much harder to find.

I have a 686 4" and a 586 6". The 586 has been shot a LOT with hot .357 bear loads with no problems and is still tight. I have prolly only shot a box of .357 through the 686, both have excellent triggers, prolly the best DA trigger pulls of any pistols I have tried. I don't have a lot of experience with the others on your list but have heard that if you shoot a lot of hot .357 loads through them they will loosen up quickly.

I saw a model 29 with 8" barrel and adjustable front sight for $250 one time. Definitely a good place to try.

nah thats a model 28 ... I would concider it it if were a bit cheeper on that gun.
