Sure. Colts, Springfields, Para Ordanance, Kimber and about 20 others. Also a few in the $400-$500 range that the finish is not as nice but are good shooters. Gun show this weekend at Market Hall. You will be able to see most brands there.

What is the best one for under $800.00? I live in Corpus Christi so can't go to the gun show.

Springfield is conservative about their products. They don't put out crap.

GI, mil-spec, Loaded Operator, Champion etc. are all good. Just depends on features you want.

The GI and mil-spec start out around 500$.

A "Loaded" version has a lot of features that more expensive 1911's have. like a fancy trigger, finish, etc.

S&W is around 1k for some of their 1911's.

Dan Wesson makes some nice 1911s. Unfortunately, I haven't held, shot, or even seen in person any of them (but the same holds true for S&W, Kimber, Para Ordnance, Colt, and many others), but all the stuff I've read has been A+++++ positive.

I <3 my S&W 1911.

Also, there's nothing wrong with a used gun that has been maintained well. People will sell some badass stuff at much lower prices just because it's been shot.
Well guess what... they did nothing to it that you're not going to do!

Really? I guess they've really gone up in price recently. I bought a Kimber Custom Classic II for around $650 close to 5 years ago from Bachman Pawn & Gun. It's only my second 1911 but I could only imagine what could be better It's better by a good margin than the Colt Series 70 Government Model my dad used to own.

I haven't been gun shopping in some time but I seriously doubt the Kimber Custom Classic II I own is going for over a grand.

Kimber prices

I bought a kimber gold match last year @ the gunshow for 875. A friend has bought 3 different kimber models this year for under 850 brand new. I bought a para lda ltd 45 today for under 950.

Cabelas is proud of their firearms...I won't even ask the price because I already know it will be too high...the used weapons they have might not be so inflated, but I'm not up on the market value of most used weapons to have an accurate idea

They have def gone up in price over the last few years. I bought my Kimber Tactical Custom II a few years ago for like ~750-790...and now I see them at the show for $950 or so. Worth every penny though...its VERY accurate

Kimber Pro Carry NIB for 800$.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=89155923

I don't like Kimber or Dan Wesson.

Although I think it is kewl that they are in Yonkers, NY.

S&W with the sights fixed which are usually off when new or a Springfield 1911.

Sig P220 is pretty slick and available as SAO or a GSR.

Dan Wesson - they're fugly. The revolvers are popular up in Alaska. But I'd rather have a Ruger or Smith&Wesson revolver.

Kimber - of the small handful of people I know that have had one they are either particular on ammo and/or have been in the shop for maintenance even though low usage. I think the Kimbers look great and have excellent features and are priced well. But I'd rather have a Springfield for same price.

I really like the look of the Kimber rifles but don't have any experience with them.

But kudos for both for making 10mm.

I would buy a Kimber for hunting hog or range pistol in the 10mm. But if Springfield, Sig, or H&K made a 10mm, I would buy that first.

Until that post about Colts on BudsGunShop, I thought they were more expensive. They look like a great deal. A match grade barrel 45ACP under 1k? Awesome.

I've got a DW .357 Magnum that's comparable in size to my uncle's Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum; I've also got a DW .44 Magnum that's even bigger than his Smith & Wesson; then I've got a .445 SuperMag that makes his look like a toy. They're well-built revolvers (perhaps a bit overbuilt), and I'd take one over a Ruger or Smith & Wesson any day (excluding only the .460 or .500 S&W).

Yes, but that can be changed with a simple Colt magazine swap.

I have a Kimber and, although I don't have a ton of rounds through it yet, it has performed flawlessly. It is also the most accurate of all my pistols. I bought it used from a friend and he never had problems either. I have only shot WWB through it and he shot hollow points through it. My Colt, on the other had, has been more finicky.

If you want to spend that mouch money, then go ahead and get the Springfield. You can never go wrong with one of those. Spend a little more, then get the Kimber. I didn't exactly have enough cash to get the Kimber I wanted, so I took a chance on a cheaper 1911 made by Rock Island Armory. I think it was worth it. Its accurate, comes with a 8 round Novak magazine, and is a pretty fun gun to shoot. Bought some grips for it awhile back. My only complaint is the sights, they use the old style blade front sight. If its dark it is a little tougher to see that front sight. But I got a fix for that here soon. IMO, a 1911 is a 1911, it boils down to preferance and cost.
