Nothing, Some cities passed ordinances preventing businesses from allowing smoking in their premises. Nothing new, but some towns picked it up this year.

I noticed that there's only one "sign" at the Presbyterian Hospital here in Denton, and it's written on the glass at the emergency room entrance. There are at least 2 other entrances to the building that don't have anything; one could go to the emergency room through one of those doors and never see the sign.

It has to be posted at all entrances.

Also, doesn't the 30.06 sign have to be the exact dimensions, 1" tall letters, exact wording, etc, etc as stated by law, otherwise it is void?

I don't think written on glass counts for shit.

EDIT: looked it up

Quote:
If the property owner (or someone with apparent authority to act for the owner) posts a sign, the sign must comply with the requirements of §30.06 to be effective notice to a CHL.

"Written communication" means either:
(1) a card or "other document" that has written language "identical" to the following:

"Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by holder of license to carry a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (concealed handgun law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun;" or

(2) A sign posted on the property that:
(a) "includes" the above language in both English and Spanish;
(b) appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; and
(c) is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

Thus, according to the statute, a proper §30.06 sign must have language identical to that quoted above, and the sign must be in both English and Spanish. The letters on the sign must be block letters and they must be at least one inch in height. They must also be of "contrasting colors." Lastly, the sign must be displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

a hospital is a "no carry zone" regardless if a 30.06 sign is posted or not. it is the same as a church, organized gambling, etc

at least thats what i remember from my CHL class

No, they have to have a 30.06 sign posted.

Nope...Grapevine Mills does not have it at all entrances, but it is still enforcable. You might be able to argue that you were unaware of the sign posted at entrances other than the one you used, but once you are verbally told "No Guns", then you must leave the premises or be charge with Criminal Trespass by a CHL holder.

As far as what I do when I encounter a 30.06 sign...

It depends on the sign, the business that has posted the sign and what I am there for...if I can find what I am looking for at another business, I will go there...If I am there to eat, I may go somewhere else or use the drive thru if available. If the sign does not meet the legal requirements set forth under PC 30.06, I may still carry inside. Depending on my mood, I may speak with a manager and explain to him why I will not be doing business with them as long as the sign is posted.

The 30.06 sign, along with the other general "No Guns" signs really mean nothing more than it is a victim rich environment.
