gun safe question??

is yours bolted to the ground/ wall??? i am in need of a larger one and dont really see the purpose of bolting the heavy fucking thing to the wall/floor. theives these days arent craking safes, they are looking for your electronics and throwing your old ladys jewelry in your pillow case and going to get some meth. what bring this up is the old lady decided we needed to clean out the closet last weekend and i pulled out 17 misc. guns outta the closet, not to mention the ruger blackhawk that smacked her in the forehead when she was pulling down a blanket from the hallway closet a few weeks ago. that and the baby boy is now 1 and into everything. just wondering. thanks

god bless

I just picked up a new one. I plan on bolting it down simply because it is in the garage. It would be easy for a couple of guys to break in the garage and load it onto a trailer or back of a truck. It would be a struggle but it could be done. I don't think if it will be inside it would be necessary. It won't be as easy to manuever it out of the house.

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.

Talk to your insurance agent, State farm requires that it be secured or they won't honor it's contents in the policy rider.

In a garage bolt it down for sure. If it is a big one inside the house I dont know if I would bother bolting it down, depending on insurance issues.

Mine weighed 584# empty and took 4 guys and a dolly to get it in my house. If someone breaks in and steals it, they deserve it! It barely fit in the door!!!
Besides that, even if you cut the hinges off of it, the door won't open. So it would just be a giant paperweight.

I have heard a couple stories of thievesripping them out od houses using a truck and chain. Both supposedly were on an outside wall. Kinda like when they get ATM's.
Could be total bs though

If you can get the safe in the house a thief can deff get the safe out of the house. My moms ex had a safe dolly'd out of his house. He later got another and bolted it down and came in to find oxy/acetolyne cutting marks on it. basically they tried cutting it and burned up all kinds of shit like carpet and walls before giving up.

Niether safe is bolted down. One is 1200lbs empty and the other 1400lbs empty then you take into account everything thats in them and there probably closer to 1600 & 1800lbs. Bottom line, if a thief wants it bad enough there going to get it. With a light safe I would probably go ahead and bolt it to the floor. Our safes also have decals sateing that there's gun powder/ammunition inside so if they are willing to take a chance with the torch they can knock them selves out.

Mine is 900 lbs empty, and with what's inside it probably weighs more than 1,500 lbs.

I probably need to lag it to the studs that are behind it, but I'm too friggin lazy....

I have mine bolted down to the floor and wall. The safe is heavy as hell, but I just like the fact its bolted down. (All my safe's are bolted down, even the small fireboxes). I want to make it difficult if a thief breaks in.
