Car Holster that doesn't look like a holster

So I've been looking for something to put the gun in while driving around in the car because keeping it in the holster is not convenient enough (seat belt is in the way). This is what I'm going with. Quick glance and it doesn't even look like a holster. Bonus points for being able to slip into my backpack or tank bag (motorcycle) while keeping my holster on. What do you guys think?

Pretty neat. I got my dad a briefcase type think that had a quick access exterior pocket made to carry a pistol. I want one of those Sig jackets that is designed to hold a concealed weapon.

looks innocuous enough to just leave on the passenger seat.

I wanted something to carry like that and when I don't wear a belt. I went to Office Depot and bought a $7 high school zipper planner. I pulled out the inserts and cut a piece of high density foam rubber to the size of the planner. I then made a cutout of the gun in the foam. I spent less than $10 and have something that I can carry around when in gym clothes or leave in the passenger seat. I could have gone with one of the more expensive leather planner holsters, but I thought that they look valuable so might be more prone to theft. This just looks like something a high schooler would have. I'll try and remember to post some pics tonight.

It works great when you are in and out of the car a lot, but a belt holster is more convenient if you will be walking around a lot because you don't have to carry it.

My car holsters are the gap between the seats with a map folded over the top, then there's the one under the seat, in the door, and maybe one in the glovebox.

Well for what I needed, this will work great. I like the fact that it's got a storage for an extra mag or 3 plus it's got the tear away velcro side if I need to quickly pull the gun out. But were talking about pretty much the same thing, something that can be left in plain sight and doesn't look like a holster or gun storage.

What do you drive and what do you carry? That option really won't work for me as I don't like to slide my Glock between the seats without having the trigger covered in some fashion. Thanks for playing though

2004 Dodge Pick up truck.

1911a1 between the seats, PM9 in the door, CZ-75 under the seat, and an XD-45 in the glove box.

Depends on the situation at the time.

1911 more than likely since it's easiest accessed. The PM9 is usually used when I want to carry something in my pocket. When I get to the truck I usually just throw it in the door.

Is that why you spent 3-4 hours a day for a solid week trying to find a good deal on one?

I know what you mean. I made sure to get one with an additional pocket so that I could slip my wallet, keys, and cellphone in when I was wearing workout clothes. It also has the mesh pocket.

For longer trips in the car I have an Uncle Mike's holster that is a little too big. I wedge it between the seat and console and then drop the gun in. The fact that it is too loose makes it easy to get the gun out.

That looks nice though. I'd pimp it.

OK, I see yours is more of a case than a holster and not exactly what I was looking for. But what it looks like it works for what you need it for and the price is right.

Yup. Just looking for something that's a bit more portable and I can carry without me in a backup or tankbag when riding the motorcycle

True it is more like a case. On the first couple of attempts I tried to make it more like a holster, but I eventually found that I was faster at simply unzipping and dumping it into my hand than trying to partially unzip, squeeze my hand in, grip the gun, and remove.

Your probably set with what you have but I'll post up my impressions of it once I've had some time to play around with it.

I carry my XD in the car door. For me it's all about quick access. I can shoot left or right handed and the only thing concealing the gun is a WalMart baggy.

Since you can carry a gun out in the open on your property in Texas, I take it inside the house under my arm.

BTW...XD's are for queers. Fortunately, I haven't had to shoot a queer yet.

i drive an expedition. i use one of those pager pal holsters and sit it between the seat and center console. the only thing you can see looking into the car is the pager(looks like it fell and is just sitting in the crack between seat and console. all i have to do is pull the pager up about 3 inches and i can grab the gun from there.
