We had one where the QB would act like he had bees in his helmet until the defense let their guard down and the ball was snapped and the offense would basically steam roll the D.

That's awesome. I really wish NFL teams would do run more trick plays.

The reason more trick plays aren't ran in the NFL is because they don't work.

Completely debatable, and completely relative comment.

Depends on the type of play, and the team running them. There have been more than a few successes with trick plays this year, haven't there?

I consider the wildcat a trick play in a way. But, you can't say they don't work, because you never see them used.

With the shittiness of the Cowboys this year I haven't watched much NFL at all. Are you considereing fake punts and fieldgoals trick plays?

IMO, yes, those would fall under trick plays.

That's my point. There's a reason they're not used. I've always said the biggest difference between college and NFL is defense. Not to say they would NEVER work, just a very small chance that's not worth the try in a cut-throat league. I can see one out of desperation in a big game but that's the only situation I can see one being tried.

Then every play that shows run but ends up being a pass is a trick play and vice versa? Deception is the name of the game.

I agree with that as well. For instance, the big first down from Favre to Berrian yesterday in OT. Play was called as a run, showed run, but Favre and Berrian were tuned in to the whereabouts of the safety, so Berrian ran a short slant route and gained 20+. Nobody else on the Viking offense even knew what was going on. Favre didn't audible. The guards pulled as they should have pulled for a run to the left, etc. Only Favre and Berrian knew what was about to happen.

google "'wrong ball' trick play" and it brings up quite a few other videos...

My freshman team in '96 used to practice this play but I don't think we ever tried to use it in a game...

funny to watch though
