Mayors make World Series bet

So Spring Creek BBQ is the best in Texas? lmfao, that's so wrong and disgusting.

http://www.tmz.com/2010/10/26/texas-...-gamble-wager/

The Commissioner's Trophy isn't the only thing on the line when the Texas Rangers play the San Francisco Giants in the 2010 World Series -- two hometown mayors have each stepped up to the plate to make a serious bet on the outcome.

TMZ has learned ... San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (right) and the mayor of Arlington, TX, Robert Cluck (left), have agreed to make a wager on the series.

Here's the deal -- each mayor has agreed that the loser will provide a day of community service in the winner's town while wearing a jersey of the winning team.

But there's more -- the losing mayor will also ship the winning mayor a bunch of delicious hometown goodies. If SF loses, Newsom has agreed to ship Dungeness crab, sourdough bread, Ghirardelli chocolate and Anchor Steam beer.

If Texas loses, Cluck has agreed to ship over BBQ food from a local joint called Spring Creek BBQ ... said to be the best in TX.

Game 1 is set for tomorrow night.

Shrimp'n ain't easy....

Hahahaha! Texas has already won by offering its "best" when it's really just average BBQ.

Average is being nice. That place sucks and it is way overpriced.

Might as well send some Dickey's over there.

Dickey's (from an older store, with a real smoker) is far better than Spring Creek

Find one that you are refering to and I will try it out.

All I have ever known is the nasty cookie cutter locations.

considering who's doing the sending, it might be the "best " he's ever had. I'd bet he had the crusts cut off his sammiches as a kid.

I'll see what I can do. I know of several off the top of my head, but can't think of any out there by you. I'll call Roland though and see what he says

I'd have to say even slightly below average to be honest.

So what is the best BBQ place in Arlington? I am assuming the Mayor of Arlington would not send BBQ from a Dallas or FW restaurant, would he?

Maybe that was the point. The mayor gets the last laugh if the Rangers lose.

Honestly, I'm sure the decision was more political than anything. They are headquartered in Arlington and they donate all kinds of money to various organizations.

Cool, I can only think of one in Mesquite that might be somewhat old, but I don't think it is that old. Seem to remember alot of wood behind it though.

Everytime I walk by that place looks dead. Maybe they are busy at lunch though. I don't walk past it at lunch.

It's never really been packed when I go there but I've only been 3-4 times total. I've never been at lunch though it's usually around 7-8ish that I go.
