Exclamation The State of College Football in Texas

Whoa, when was the last time that A&M, Tech, and texas all had 3 loses by week 7?? On top of that, Baylor has a better record than the other 3.

2010 after week 7
A&M = 4-3
Tech = 4-3
texas = 4-3
Baylor = 6-2

For perspective of former SWC foes this year:
SMU = 4-4
Houston = 4-3
Rice = 2-6
TCU = 8-0

Wow!

This is the worst start for the 4 Big XII Texas teams since year one of the Big XII.

1996 after 7 games:
A&M = 3-4
Tech = 4-3
texas = 3-4
Baylor = 4-3

1997 after 7 games:
A&M = 5-2
Tech = 4-3
texas = 3-4
Baylor = 1-6

1998 after 7 games:
A&M = 6-1
Tech = 6-1
texas = 5-2
Baylor = 2-5

BTW: 1995 after 7 games:
A&M = 5-2
Tech = 5-2
texas = 5-1-1
Baylor = 5-2

1994 after 7 games:
A&M = 7-0
Tech = 3-4
texas = 5-2
Baylor = 5-2

Tech could easily have one more loss on their record, Baylor just completely shut down in the game at the Cotton Bowl. I'm looking forward to putting one more in the loss column for the Aggies and hopefully the Horns as well.

All of the work we've done this year will be disregarded soon after the major teams in the conference declare this a bad year for the entire conference, but such is life as the previous 16 seasons' punching bag.

Please DO note the "former" rivals' schedules. They barely survived in the SWC, and that was without OU, Mizzou, Nebraska, etc.

who would have thought of a season like this. week 7 texas, florida, michigan, penn state usc all out of the polls and miami, fl will be out this next week. traditional top 25 schools have a rough time of it this year.

while you have teams like baylor nevada miss. st in the rankings. and of course tcu and boise st. in the top 5. if tcu beats utah next week i hope they win out the rest of the season and ditto for boise st. I think last year both those teams got shafted having to play each other in a bowl game. like the bcs selection committee did not want to put the florida's and alabama's etc up against these "BCS" busting schools and be embarrassed ala Okie a few years back.

But I could have sworn that people on THIS WEBSITE swear that college football is based off "TIERS" and that "top tier" teams will always be dominant.

Huh. That's the damnedest thing.

I went to the game on Saturday and Texas seriously needs to take a closer look at their play calling, at least that was the consenus from the fans at the game.

Yup

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I'm still enjoying the view from the top of the South. I'd like to see us hold on to that for a week or two longer with a win over OSU this weekend and see if we can't crack the top 20.

9-3 looks extremely doable right now. I'll take either/or on OSU/A&M, but they shouldn't lose them both.

So another shocking stat for you:

Despite how bad A&M has been in the last 10 years, they never lost 3 IN A ROW at Kyle Field!!!!

I don't know which is more funny: tu losing 3 in a row in Austin or the lack of the this board's 'sips posting in the sports forum in the last month.

I haven't gone anywhere. I guess if that's all you got (not losing 3 in a row at home), go for it. Keep searching for that rainbow in that stream of piss you guys call a "program". The curse of R.C. Slocum still isn't done with A&M...

You're the one of many. It's too bad the likes of Venom and Hookem aren't around on days like these. I'd love to read their excuses.

My excuse is that UT kinda sucks this year. It will be interesting on Thanksgiving. A&M has OU, Baylor, Nebraska, then UT. That's a pretty nasty run.

That was embarrassing. The offense caught a few bad breaks on the first couple of drives and then never got in it. And we still hadn't played anyone all year that could throw it and our banged up secondary finally showed through when we did.

Still have a chance to finish 8-4, though, which I'll take.

By First weekend in Nov.:
2010:
Baylor 7-2
A&M 6-3
Tech 5-4
texas 4-5

1996:
Baylor 4-4
A&M 4-5
Tech 5-4
texas 4-4

Baylor is making this year better than '96

After second weekend in November
2010:
A&M 7-3
Baylor 7-4
Tech 5-5
texas 4-6

1996:
A&M 5-5
Baylor 4-5
Tech 5-4
texas 5-4

So 1996 is still going to be the worst year for these schools.
