Expect he has a ring and they don't have a Larry O'Brien.

I'm ready for this season as well. I interested in seeing how this team will play.....then lure me in and kill my hopes and dreams. But honestly I'm just glad the season is starting, I'm tired of hearing of how the Cowboys suck.

I think they'll be #2 or #3 in the West. The East looks pretty strong this year, so I'm not holding out for a championship. I also FULLY EXPECT some trade deadline moves this year as well.

Never know what can happen (injuries) that can take out a top seed team. Same goes for us to but you never know what can happen. Hell, I don't think anybody at the beginning of the year thought the Rangers would be where they are right now

I believed they would be here. I didn't think they would get this far the way they did though.

I'm not going to put getting to the playoffs on a pedestal but if you think getting to the playoffs once in over a decade is the same as getting to the playoffs 9 straight times you're delusional. Let alone a 2006 Finals appearance that was right there for the taking.

I think we've been used to the Rangers not being competitive. The Mavs have been the whipping boy since the Golden State series.

I'm excited for the season but I just don't think they did enough in the off season to compete with the Lakers.

I'm sure they're dangling Butler's contract out there though.

I'm definitely ready for this season. I hope Beaubois gets healthy and they play him this season, he can make things happen. I also like the new rookie Dominique Jones, I saw some of the Summer League games and this guy is pretty damn good. Just hope the Mavs give him some adequate playing time.

The Mavs need to retool their team soon cause Dirk isnt getting any younger. Dallas has players, but I dont think they are a serious contender. I still think the Lakers and the Spurs will be better than the Mavs. Ive read where Richard Jefferson has worked his ass off this summer to be better than he was last year. Im suprised that Mark Cuban hasnt been calling Denver to see if he can get Carmelo to Dallas. Carmelo and Dirk would be a good combo to have.

I'd be weary of this, you have two great scorers but they are both known for lack of defense.

Well you prove my point idiot. How many championship rings do manning have and how many does the mavs have? Ok so how are the mavs like manning? Joe Montana is a great QB and I would put Manning up there with him. But it's a toss up on who is better, cause Manning never had a receiver like Rice. Manning can take a avg receiver and make him look like a good or great receiver. So who is better we will never know. But as far as stats go I think Manning will be better. But it's a different age of football now.

Mavs looked a bit out of chemistry last night, I must say though Chandler and Mahinmi looked good last night. I have to say if these guys hold up with Haywood this would be the best center squad the Mavs had ever had!

And John Wall is a beast, more than likely the ROY

Upper hand on Spurs? Spurs are getting old. I do like Tyson Chandler though...Mavs should get a lot of easy baskets.

Carlisle faints at practice...

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...html?eref=sihp

DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle collapsed at practice on Friday and was briefly taken to a hospital.

The 50-year-old Carlisle will not travel to the Mavericks' outdoor exhibition game Saturday in California against Phoenix, team president Donnie Nelson said. Carlisle is expected to return to the sidelines for a preseason game Monday in Dallas.

"He got lightheaded and fainted," Nelson said. "I don't know if he didn't put enough sugar on his Wheaties this morning or what. But he's fine now."

Team spokeswoman Sarah Melton said Carlisle "was apparently lightheaded" and fainted on the court at the American Airlines Center. He was responding to questions as he was carried by stretcher to an ambulance and taken to Baylor University Medical Center.

"It was all sort of precautionary - get him to the hospital and make sure he is OK," Melton said.

Nelson said Carlisle has fainted before, but that the coach is in good health.

"All of us faint, whether you're in church and you stand up and get lightheaded or what have you." Nelson said. "We've all been through it."

Nelson said it was scary to see his coach go down and reminded him at first of the night college basketball star Hank Gathers collapsed and died on the court during a 1990 Loyola Marymount game.

"I was there the night went Hank went down," Nelson said. "Weird things flash in your mind."

Carlisle is a former NBA player who spent five seasons with Boston, New York and New Jersey. He is about to begin his third season with the Mavericks, following head coaching stints in Indiana and Detroit.

"I heard the fall," guard Jason Kidd told The Dallas Morning News. "We don't know what the situation is. Basketball is our job, but life comes before our job or anything else. Your well-being is the most important thing. That's our coach and our family member. We got to make sure he's all right and we'll go from there."

Dallas defeated Chicago in an exhibition 88-83 on Thursday night.

Last month, Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio was hospitalized with a mild heart attack a few hours after his team beat Notre Dame in overtime. Dantonio had a stent installed during surgery and is planning to return for his first game since on Saturday when the Spartans play at Michigan.
