So throughout 3 weeks of football what has surprised you guys?

I'd say Kansas City chiefs going 3-0 is a really big shock.... I figured San Diego or Denver would be taking that division with ease but it doesn't look that way right now with both teams 1-2 at the moment.

Also I'd like to say the Pittsburgh Steelers have shocked me as well... I honestly thought they had a decent team with Dixon starting but he got injured and they are still fairing pretty damn well.... I can only imagine what happens once Ben returns.

Pretty clear cut picks this week.

KC will falter as the year goes on and San Diego will rise to the top.
Philly will start playing real teams and get exposed.
Dallas will make it to maybe 10 wins. MAYBE
Giants are going to implode
Manning will be Manning.
Patriots will end up third in the division, behind Miami and New York.
Saints will still win their division.
Green Bay will have the best record in the NFC.

I'm not as surprised by the Chiefs being 3-0 as I am that their draft picks are actually contributing positively and making game changing plays as well as their defense actually making critical plays when they have to be made. Overall they've picked horribly over the past 5+ years in the draft(Thanks Carl Peterson) and I actually thought they did a fair job this year(Nicely done Scott Pioli) with the available talent in the draft. However, they "could" easily be 1-2 had it not been for Flowers pick-6 in game 2 and that kick returned for a TD in game 1. Until yesterday, their special teams play was winning them games. I know the 49ers are at the bottom of the heap, but putting up 31 and only allowing 10(7 in the reaming few minutes of play) to a team that looked like they were going to take down the SB champs last week has to count for something. I like what I've seen out of their rookie TE Moeaki. I think he could be polished into a near Tony Gonzalez type TE down the road. McCluster will find a solid spot in the line-up once they figure out what his niche is going to be. If Todd Haley would quit trying to be a hardass, I think they would get more yardage on the ground with Charles in the backfield as the starter. He proved last year that he has what it takes when LJ finally got the boot. Seems Haley is easy to be confrontational and then bench a guy or put him 2nd or 3rd in the depth chart in trying to prove he's in charge. All that said, let's not forget they are closer to the light side on SOS.

I don't know what's worse, the Chargers looking miserable, or the fact that every broadcaster and analyst single handily blames their losses on not having Vincent Jackson. I know the guy is good, but they have other big play makers on the team as well as a few newly acquired players that should be able to handle the load. I'm not saying they should be winning every game, but let's not place all the blame on one guy being gone, especially when you're supposed to be a high powered offense in what most see as being in 1 of the 2 weakest divisions in the NFL.

Now that we've seen the Steeler win with multiple QB's, it will be interesting to see how they fair on offense with Rosie back in 2 weeks. I'm going to go ahead and say it, if their defense wasn't top notch like it is I have a hard time believing they would be undefeated right now. I think with him coming back the passing game will get a little more respect and in turn Mendenhall will have some bigger games and have better contribution. A lot of people have criticized Mendenhall, but when you have little passing game going teams are just going to keep stacking the box and playing the run. It's hard to break for big gains with 7 or 8 guys blowing the play up damn near every time.

I told you Denver wouldn't amount to shit. Yet again. But noooooo, you know it all because you picked Saints to win the SB.

I also recall telling you Saints wouldn't even win that division this year. Atlanta is certainly nipping at their heels.

I told you let's make that bet.... $500 say's the New Orleans Saints win their division this year.

I wouldn't count the Saints out by any means.

Denver is still a good team.... i watched the game yesterday and it was a bunch of stupid coaching decisions like going for it on 4th multiple times instead of just taking the points.

Denver could have just as easily won that game. I wouldn't count them out either.

Didn't even think about that lol.... If Denver loses the rest of the season I'm still with them 100% and would still claim they can beat anyone

Agreed. Let's be honest guys. That game could have gone either way. Hartley makes that kick and we're talking about the 2 game lead the Saints have on the Falcons. Now they are tied with the Falcons owning the tie breaker.

It was an awesome game and the Falcons showed just how good they can be. They also showed just how much trouble the Saints have with the run and how much they miss Randal Gay and Darrell Sharper. Even so, the Defense still came through many times and kept us in the game.

Also, Brees had two very costly interceptions. One of which was mystifyingly dumb. I think he realized that because it was the last dumb move that he made all game.

The real take away from this game is that the Falcons are for real. Yesterday they were better than the Saints but they weren't so dominating that anyone would give them the NFC South. It is going to be a battle.

Frankly I say thank you to the Falcons. They just lit a fire under the Saints asses. That is something they needed..

Cowboys could still win the East. Are you saying that with two losses it's impossible? This is the NFCE. 9-7 could win it, and we all know that.

I'd say it's even more possible now, because Washington is now 1-2, Giants are 1-2. Only team with 2 wins is Philly, and Philly isn't as good as they think they are. They've lucked out with weak teams (with the exception of GB). And to take it a step further, Washington will beat Philly this week.

Wow... The 49ers have fired offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye, maybe now they can put some points up on the board.

Division games are usually a split, with most divisions. But when you have a situation like this, with McNabb having a chip on his shoulder, I think Washington sweeps Philly this season. Philly just isn't that good. Neither is Washington, but they are still a close matchup.

I don't know. Vick has been tearing it up compared to McNabb.

I'll give the guy a little credit. He did a good job yesterday of exposing the weakness of Houston's defense. Even more impressive, he did so, without completely abandoning the run. 30 passing plays vs 27 rushes.

I still think he needs to be fired, however. Just because they won a game doesn't mean they don't still have problems. Situational play calling was still pretty weak.

McNabb has 8 more completions for 83 more yards, with a .1 % higher completion rating. The only thing Vick has McNabb beat on, is TDs.

To me, he was play calling against a terrible secondary, and Romo and company took advantage of it. He didn't feel pressured the whole game to make something happen, so he stuck with a 50/50 offense as the game kept going on.

That game was by no means indicative of his normal play calling due to the terrible play of the Texans D.

Exactly. But that's what GOOD (see: Not Jason Garrett) OCs do. Find a weakness and expose it right out of the gate. Then you keep attacking that weakness. We all know Houston's weakness is secondary, that rookie DB to be exact.

Agreed. He still needs to go.

Yeah and Vick can also run the ball which fucks up the other teams defense plans. That is what I'm talking about Vick has been doing a lot better then McNabb. McNabb has a little better stats throwing the ball but Vick can clearly make that up with his running game.

That was quick. Yesterday they were trying to trade him. Guess it didn't take long to figure out nobody wanted him.

I doubt it. He is either going to have to go CFL or UFL.

UFL has taken some pretty good talent. I saw Jeff Garcia, Ahman Green and Robert Ferguson all on the Hartford team. Culpepper is with some team as well. He might make it on as a backup for some desperate NFL team though.

Before he died Bill Walsh told Marv Levy that Edwards was the second coming of Joe Montana, thats why they grabbed him when he was still on the draft board. I may be generalizing but QB's from California all seem to be pussies.

Edwards looked promising until he got hit in the ear for his first concussion a couple of years back. By far the most disappointing Bills QB ever it's hard to beat out Billy Joe Hobert but he sure did. It's not easy being a Bills fan lol.

Aaron Rodgers has taken his share of punishment with just 2 years at the helm and is still yet to miss a game as well as continuing to be one of the premier quarterbacks in the league. Last year the Packers allowed the most sacks(50) in the NFL if that tells you anything. He also played at Cal.

I knew Rodgers played at Cal, but didn't realize he was born and rasied there. Troy Aikman and Brady were also born there. Thanks for shooting holes in my generalization!!
