RIP. I feel for his family, there is really no reason to take your own life if that indeed is the case.

Tough world we live in, not tough enough to kill yourself IMO. It's never a good story without tragedy I guess.

Sad... Seems like the guy had so much to live for and was still so young... I just don't understand taking your life into your own hands like that, and I probably never will. Hopefully they find out some sort of answers as to what might of happened.

Maybe it was the stress of his career coming to an end due to injuries.... We'll never know.

Of course there is no excuse for suicide, his stress probably stemmed from the uncertainty of his future while sitting on IR due to consecutive knee injuries. I am sympathetic to his situation, not the fact that he offed himself though.

I remember watching this guy play in college for the east coast USC. Dude was an absolute monster. His talent will be missed.

Hah, that was good. RIP though, sad to see someone that made it there (injured or not) would off himself. We all have our downs, but thats what makes us stronger. He just needed a better backing, I am sure his family and friends didn't support him at all while he was injured though.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said in a tearful news conference Tuesday that nobody in the organization saw any hint that wide receiver Kenny McKinley was suicidal before he took his life.

The Arapahoe County sheriff said the second-year pro died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home near the Broncos' headquarters Monday afternoon.

The team gathered Tuesday morning and met with grief counselors. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard said McKinley was his usual joking and jovial self in the weeks leading up to his death.

McDaniels said the team plans to observe a moment of silence Sunday before its game against the Indianapolis Colts and players will wear decals on their helmets to remember McKinley.

[email protected] the shotgun comment.

People that are truly suicidal don't issue cries for help, they handle business.

A former teammate of Kenny McKinley says not so fast on the cause of death of the Denver Broncos wide receiver, who was found dead Monday.

New York Giants cornerback D.J. Johnson told the New York Post he doesn't believe McKinley committed suicide, but rather he suspects foul play because of what he described as a dangerous climate for pro athletes in Denver.

"Something fishy went down there," Johnson told the newspaper without providing any details. "I don't think it happened the way they're saying it happened. Somebody did something to him."

Police in Arapahoe County, Colo., have said McKinley died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, adding that he had been depressed after having season-ending knee surgery last month.

Johnson also said he can't believe McKinley would commit such an act with his 2-year-old son so close by.

"He lived for his son," Johnson said.
