Reggie Bush: Stud or Bust?

Just for shits and giggles. As the title states. 2nd overall stud pick? Or 2nd overall bust pick?

With his injuries since his rookie season he hasn't met expectations in my opinion.

He helped the Saints win a Super Bowl, I think given his role a running back he has done ok. I don't think he is a complete flop but he is not an AD either.

Helped my ass.

NFC Championship game, he had 7 attempts for 8 yards. Are you telling me they couldn't have gotten there without him?

Keep in mind, he has yet to have a 600+ yard season.
He has yet to have a 100+ yard game.

Again I ask. Stud or Dud?

This was the 2nd overall pick. Serviceable? Depends on the team. Dud? I'd say so. Houston became the laughing stock of the NFL for a full season when they took Williams over Bush, before they finally had the last laugh (and are still having it, IMHO).

Devin Hester scored a touchdown in a Superbowl, Reggie Bush has not.

I'm not even going to vote... Stupid how you worded it.

Guarantee if Reggie Bush didn't have 2 other decent running backs he would be a workhorse in the NFL and a every down back. I'd much rather see him catching the ball though.

I doubt the Saints think they got their money's worth by his overall play. To be honest, I don't even understand the reasons he gets the attention he does.

He is exciting with a football in his hands... He will get hurt way before he retires if he even does.

LMFAO @ workhorse. The dude can't stay healthy when he's playing part time. He'll never be an effective between the tackles runner.

As bcoop pointed out 7 for 8 isn't anything to write home about. I think part of the perception people have of his is what they saw at USC. He's far from that kind of player at this point.

Devin Hester was picked in the second round and initially made the Bears as a special teamer/3rd or 4th wideout.

Whats funny is the Saints picked Reggie Bush second overall and paid him as such, and his only worth is as an average punt return specialist. It wasn't a who is a better returner question.

i'll be real and say:
reggie bush isn't a bust, but he isn't a stud either.
he is a good role playing #2 rb. more of a screen back who can do a lot when given space. he will continue to be this type of back until his wheels wear down and i think he will face a fair amount of injuries during his career.

if i was going to relate him to recent RBs, i'd say brian westbrook but will be about half as successful over the course of his career.

I think he wouldn't be considered a bust, if he didn't come into the league being compared to LT. I think he is a good fit in the Saints special teams and packaged offensive plays designed for him. I think if Brees wasn't a Saint, Bush would be a complete bust.

You're an IDIOT, who the fuck drafts a punt returner. I was alluding to the fact that the Saints drafted a running back second overall and all they got was an average punt returner. How is Bcoop the only one that got this..... move along

It's hard to pick up sarcasm in a thread that IDAjeff has posted in, because some of the stupid shit he says in seriousness would pass for sarcasm from any sane, logical person.

im not gonna read all the post.. so heres how i look at it.

hes a threat, a good player but not great, teams focus on him a lot which opens up a lot of passing lanes on play actions.

you would be lying if you said you wouldnt want him on your team.

But is he worth the #2 overall pick? No, but he's 1st round talent.

I guess I'm a liar then, because I wouldn't want him. The NFL is littered with guys just like him, but IMO, are better.

I think Reggie Bush is better as a receiver than he is as a running back. He can make plays when he has some space.

1st overal pick for the dallas cowboys hahaha no where near the 2nd overall pick in the draft.

We don't know what he can do. Garrett doesn't give him the ball. That is not his fault, unless he is practicing bad.

I wasn't comparing him to Reggie Bush at all.... Although most Cowboy fans I know do compare the likes of Bush to Felix all the fucking time it gets annoying.

Regardless if you are a first round draft pick you should be contributing to your team winning the game just about every time.

Why draft him in the 1st round if you do not plan on using him? Kind of like Denver drafting Tim Tebow LOL!

Where in the poll does it talk about Felix Jones? Are you implying that I'm trying to compare the two running backs?

All I said is Felix might as well be a 1st round bust as well.

You came in the thread dropping felix as the one that the thread should be about. Therefore you created a comparison in everyone elses mind.

With ANY other OC in the league, he would be. It's not his fault Garrett doesn't know how to use him.

It's pretty safe to say Jerry and the talent scouts had more in mind for Jones. Garrett is the fucking dumbass that can't figure it out. How that dumbfuck graduated from Princeton I'll never understand.

You're the only one that doesn't seem to understand my question. Sounds like a personal problem. You might want to get that figured out.

Jesus tap dancing christ. You're about to make it on to my ignore list. YOU ARE IMPLYING THAT YOU ARE COMPARING THE TWO. NOT ME!

Felix Jones wasn't the 2nd overall pick, first of all.

Watch a few New Orleans Saints football games then come back and debate. Thanks.

Even if the guy doesn't touch the ball Sean Peyton has plays just for Reggie Bush and he does know how to use him. You should see some of the fakes they do... I swear I've never seen people so open all the time. Then the fact that they have Drew Brees who is possibly the most accurate football quarterback in the league shit really does work.
