No UFC 118 thread?

Prelims are on spike. PPV starts at 9. Should be a good card with some good fights. Diaz vs Davis should be a good one. I think Randy is going to ground and pound Toney out. And Penn by stoppage some time in the fight. Maynard vs Florian should a good one but I say Ken fart by sub.

White VS. Asian = I want to say white bc I am white, but I'm gonna pick asian (hawaiian whatever)

Black guy VS. Old White Guy = Same as above, switch asian with black guy

I don't know who else is fighting.

James Toney was a fish out of water and BJ Penn needs to get more aggressive, because Edgar wanted it more than him.

Did you see Tim Silvia fight that boxer? He got KO'd in a few seconds. Randy just went about it the right way and put Tony in Randy's world. If it stayed standing up, Cotoure would've been done. Randy is a great strategist though. One of the few people that stick to "Plan A."

Tim silvia is a big guy and that is his only strength. I would not consider him a true mixed martial artist with his very limited skills.

Its kinda hard to knock someone out when he doesn't even throw a punch. lol. Toney looked like every other newbie white belt on the mat the first time. Any average ground guy could have done the very same thing to Toney. That was embarrassing for him even if he doesn't realize it.

It's not boxing, it's MMA. Boxing is merely one small area of MMA. Boxing by itself isn't enough to deal with an all around fighter. To say "IF it would have stayed standing" is nonsense. MMA is three dimensional, boxing is not. Therefor a MMA fighter will always be dominant over a one dimensional boxer.

more like Couture > Toney !!! I say its the fighter not the style? sure couture is a way better all around fighter but he is a great fighter even past his prime but he was not stupid and did what he needed to do to get the win! now look at Tim silvia who is a MMA fighter a better all around fighter and the got suckered by Ray Mercer to just do stand up and well 30 something seconds or the first shot he took put him to sleep! and i sure as hell didn't say at that time Boxing > MMA just Mercer > Silvia in that fight.! now I really don't think Toney is going to ever be a good MMA fighter cause he has never been a mobile fighter he is a counter puncher who just slips, slides and ducks but was always too lazy to train properly even in Boxing he was best at "talking Shit" more then anything and I was hoping Randy would do his ghetto thug ass in faster!

I really had no interest in this card. Didn't even go out.

Your arguement is slanted. In Tim's case, he was an MMA fighter who decided to stand straight in front of a boxer and tried to box. That's not MMA, that's stupid fighting which is why where his career is - in the toilet.

Boxing by itself is a limiting form of combat and one small aspect of a whole game. Boxer vs boxer, it's a contest of boxing skill. But when you put that boxer in a enviorment where there is many ways to compete such as wrestling, submissions, kicking, takedowns etc the boxer will get beat everytime because they lack those skills.

Face it, one of the best boxers in the world got in a real fight where it's closer to real street combat and got his ass handed to him. He didn't even get one shot off and looked like a grade school fighter. Toney embarrassed himself last night because of his ignorance. Every diehard boxing fan who tries to argue the same nonsense should take notice.

Boxing as a sport is a wonderful science. But as a form of combat it is incomplete and inferior.

Not to mention, he looked completely out of shape. The guy looked like he hadn't stepped in a boxing ring in 10 years.

Hope he got a decent cut of the pay because it may be his last.

He got $750k for 3 minutes of work. Dana White said he's done with boxers or any other single disciplined fighters in the UFC, it was a waste of time and money. He doesn't even care of Mayweather decided to fight in MMA, he's not interested because they can't be competitive in MMA.

LMAO whos argueing? James Toney one of the best in the world? says who? you? hell he's been past his prime 10 years ago! I think you just reworded what i already said? embarrasing is what they(dana white) paid him to do it! Ghetto has been pocketbook > then MMA legends and that sux for Mr. Couture!

I agree to both sides of this argument to a point, but MMA (Dana) has been using boxers to help promote MMA style. Always washed out old fuckers. Surly we are smart enough to see this.

"Butterbean", Ricardo Mayorga, James Toney, "World's Strongest Man" Mariusz Pudzianowski.

The UFC has only had one of those fight for them. The others have merely been circus side show acts for smaller organizations. Other than that the only other "odd" entry is our not so beloved WWE Heavyweight Champion a.k.a Brock Lesnar who is proving to be a somewhat ok mma fighter as long as no one grazes his chin with a good stiff breeze.
