Rookie to the Fantasy Football thing

I was talked into signing up this year for the first time ever by my coworkers. B-Rad's Go-Nads I know lame but this is my first year to play and all my coworkers conned me into playing lol

My auto-draft outcome:

QB: Brett Favre
WR: Reggie Wayne
WR: Steve Smith
RB: Ray Rice
RB: Steven Jackson
TE: Brent Celek
W/R/T" Cedric Benson
BN: Hines Ward
BN: Ahmad Bradshaw
BN: Johnny Knox
BN: Matthew Stafford
BN: Greg Olsen
K: Stephen Gostkowski
DEF: New York Jets
BN: Philadelphia

Who did everyone else pickup? Any tips for a newbie???

Decent, but not great, IMO. Your RB spots should get you plenty of points though.

How does one go about dropping one player, and picking up another one?

your starting lineup is actually really nice .

If Steven Jackson can stay healthy, your team can go pretty far.

Your bench is what really sucks though.

The starting lineup looks pretty good. You need to shuffle around your bench if you can.

Hard to make any recommendations without knowing how your league scores.

To see what's still available, you would go to free agents, and sort by position. Then You can add/drop players there.

It would be best to try and get some different starting receivers though. Just looking at it a little further. Smith is getting old, and Matt Moore is not going to be a prolific passer. Wayne may look good at first, but apparently the other receivers on that team are taking alot of his production away. It was pretty apparent later in the year when that white guy receiver and that pierre whateve receiver started to show up way more.

Im not here to rip your picks, just my opinion on them.

QB: Brett Favre -Sydney Rice is out for at least 8 games at WR, but did pickup Javon Walker. A guy that Favre threw to in Green Bay. I didnt take Favre
WR: Reggie Wayne - Not a bad choice, Id rather have Andre Johnson though
WR: Steve Smith - Id only take the Giants Steve Smith, Panthers Smith has been incosistent as of late
RB: Ray Rice - I dont think he will produce numbers like last year, but still good numbers
RB: Steven Jackson - NO, Rams are going to use him as offense and he has been injured in the last 2 years. Trust me, Im a Rams fan buddy.
TE: Brent Celek - Good Choice
W/R/T" Cedric Benson - I wouldnt have him as a starter, I feel last year was a fluke.
BN: Hines Ward - IDK for the first 4 to 6 games with Big Gne out, but after that yes.
BN: Ahmad Bradshaw - Like as a Backup
BN: Johnny Knox - Good Situation with Mike Martz as Offensive Cordinator and he knows how to run a passing attack
BN: Matthew Stafford - Stay away, yes he has talent but hes still going to have growing pains. There are other good Bench QB's to take
BN: Greg Olsen - Okay, also look at Zach Miller from Oakland
K: Stephen Gostkowski - Good
DEF: New York Jets - Good
BN: Philadelphia - Good

Here are some other guys that you might consider
TE - Visante Shiancoe - Favre loves using TE's in the Red Zone, look at last years stats.
WR - Pierre Garcon - Played well as a rookie last year,
QB - Aaron Rodgers - He might be better than Drew Brees when it comes to points
RB - Jamaal Charles - He had a good 2nd half of the season for KC after Larry Johnsonn was shown the door. I picked him

Johnny Knox has a lot of potential. If your league scores for kickoff/punt return yards and tds, you'll be in heaven with that pick.

Just remember, he can only be as good as his QB.

That's why I mentioned if they count return yards and such. I kept him on the bench as a filler for when other guys were out last season, in one league, and he accrued so much return yardage, I didn't need him to catch any passes.

Unless he's in a league where no one knows jack squat about football, none of those players will be available.

Why not use Hester then instead? Or have they pulled him from special teams? I don't follow the Bears that close.

Hester doesn't do returns anymore. He ruined his career by trying to be a receiver with a crappy qb.

You know, I don't even know. I would think they'd pull their #1 from return duties, but you never know. Some teams don't. It's entirely possible that when Johnny Knox came along they pulled Hester from returns. Who knows.

Hester wasn't available in my league when I picked up Knox. It was a free agent deal, 3-4 weeks in to the season.

Meh, 6 one way, half dozen the other. I'm sure he'll put up some decent numbers for you.

However, now I have that stupid commercial from the NFL network stuck in my head when Jon Gruden yells "Devin Hester, You. Are. Ridiculous!".

only thing about Stafford as your backup is you know that defense he has sucks and he'll be slinging it 30 times a game.

I would probably drop Bradshaw and pick up best RB available after week 1.

I don't know about all the "it's just ok" comments - I think this is a very solid team. I'm assuming it has to be a ten team league, but even based off of that, he has 2 guys that are going as first rounders, two guys going as 2nd rounders, and some nice depth. I think he killed the top of the draft - getting 4 top 20 guys when he should have only gotten 2.

CBS Draft averages show:

QB: Brett Favre
WR: Reggie Wayne - #15 over all
WR: Steve Smith - #42 or #45 over all
RB: Ray Rice - #4 over all
RB: Steven Jackson - #11 over all
TE: Brent Celek #58 over all
W/R/T" Cedric Benson - #19 over all
BN: Hines Ward - #57 over all
BN: Ahmad Bradshaw - #75 over all
BN: Johnny Knox
BN: Matthew Stafford
BN: Greg Olsen
K: Stephen Gostkowski
DEF: New York Jets
BN: Philadelphia

What you need to do right now is drop the eagles and pick up the best position player available.

I can see Rogers and Garcon going quick, but the other guys may be availiable after the 4th round. Just guys that are good sleepers that might be worth thinking about if they fall into your pick

Jamaal Charles already broke out last season and all the boring Chiefs do is run the ball. Jamaal will be picked earlier then most expect.

Dont listen to these guys. Stafford is a very nice pick up. With Calvin Johnson, Jahvid Best, and Nate Burleson, Stafford will have a solid season.

Hester is still their punt returner and Knox has kick return duties. Knox is the better option, and Devin Hester might not even be the best Devin on the team. Look for Devin Aromashodu to have better numbers than Hest.

I think he could be a good option as a backup but I agree that he will flourish in that offense with all that talent. I just figure that he's still going to show those growing pains that most QB's show in their first few years. Then again Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco really didnt stumble as much as I thought last year. I like Stafford though, I became a huge fan of his after he won that game last year with a dislocated shoulder.

I thought Hester was being groomed as a WR?
