George Steinbrenner dead

NEW YORK A person close to George Steinbrenner tells The Associated Press that the New York Yankees' owner died Tuesday morning.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had not yet made the announcement

Well RIP. Just because we all hated him as a Yankees owner, doesn't mean he deserves to be spit on at has death. It is just sports and entertainment. I am sure the All Star game will have all kinds of tributes and they will piece together a special.

I give the guy credit for one thing, he did make them good again after cbs owned them, and you have to hand it to the guy, all he cared about was winning. That is all you can ask for from the owner of the team you follow.

Without Steinbrenner we wouldn't have Jerry Jones. He did more for baseball and the Yankess than anyone can imagine, a lot of it bad but even more of it good. RIP, he will be missed.

Still Glad we got Lee!

He purchased the Yankees for 10 million bucks and in 2008 they were worth 1.3 billion dollars.

8.8 million and only $168,000 of it was his money. He also almost bought the Indians, but the guy(Stouffer) backed out of a handshake agreement to sell to George.

He definitely changed baseball and all other professional sports, or at least on the business side. I can only imagine how different MLB would be if he had not owned the Yankees.

RIP

Oh, and the Yankees will continue to try and buy rings with his sons at the helm.

Dude was very savvy, but I don't like what he did to the game. RIP anyway.
