Hasn't Shaq long passed his prime? They brought him into Cleveland to help them win a championship and they made their usual semifinal round exit that they've made for the past few years...

-After watching Shaquille O'Neal struggle to keep up on defense during the Eastern Conference semi-finals, the Cavs are reportedly discussing a "double-sign-and-trade" that would send O'Neal to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for center Brendan Haywood.

I don't get it. Why would you want a big man who barely moves and is past his prime, for a more athletic, younger, faster, big man who has alot of good years ahead of him?

Every off season there's rumors of Shaq to Dallas. What a waste of a story.

Agreed. Haywood is talking to other teams. So it may be one of those things where he wants to go there and the mavs want to try and get something for him?

Why? To watch an old giant hobble down the field? Maybe if he got in a little better shape.

I hope not, Haywood is a good addition to the team. I wish he would stop putting his damn mouth piece on the side of his mouth.

Bad idea, Mavs are already one of the older teams in the league we don't need another senior on the team. Shaq is passed his prime and not worth any investment

Lebron is in a meeting right now with Nets owner Jay-Z and the Russian Billionare partner he has. They are looking to throw mega dollars to lock Lebron down permantely as their franchise player.

I'd like to see Wade here in Dallas personally.

And the worst is yet to come. Instead of talking about it every 5 stories, it will be every other story on espn, talk radio, etc. It is better to just turn it all off and wait to see.

That's ALL they have been talking about on the Ticket. I don't mind when Norm does it, because he's a smart dude and makes a lot of points that the morons on ESPN, and others don't. But for fuck's sake, just get it over with already. Talk about baseball, the upcoming football season, SOMETHING, other than Wade, LeBron, Bosch, etc.

It's no where near as bad as obnoxious football season here in Dallas.

I love basketball, and I love my Mavericks. Perhaps I'm just bitter because none of the big names are coming to Dallas. But, I am a far bigger football fan than basketball.

You know even if the mavs did get James or Wade you still need a big man at center for you to have a chance to win a championship now. I'm going to cheer for the mavs but here lately I just haven't had my hopes up to high cause they always let me down when the real season starts.

LOL. Yeah I like Heywood but to me he's not aggresive enough. Hopefully he put some meat on this offseason cause I can see him being a beast if he did. And also until the mavs learn that they need to take it to the basket instead of pulling up jump shots, they won't get far in the playoffs.

When the cavs brought in Shaq it was for one reason - to deal w/ Dwight Howard. And, when they played each other, shaq did his job - got howard in foul trouble and rebounded. Beyond that, he really struggled against smaller, quicker centers.

Coming out of the west and not having to worry about Dwight until the finals if at all, I'm not sure why he would be a fit here. I think the smaller centers out here would give him fits.

I like the move for cleveland if they keep lebron. They need a more athletic big than shaq or z. If lebron leaves, I might as well play center for them - they'll be awful.

Hell of a combo, a center that's past his prime to match a PG past his prime.

Kidd shot 42.5% from 3 point last season, which was his best year shooting since he has been in the league.

Yeah, kidd isn't the problem with this team. They are inconsistant. Even dirk, has his great days and his horrible days. I think the team is fine the way it stands, or did stand. They just need to get their head out of their arses and play "team" ball!

There's a reason for him becoming a 3 point shooter now when he has never been. Because he's too old to do anything else lol

Three point shooter=player that only has to run up and down half of the court, three point line to three point line.

Well said. Also, the rest of his offensive game is nothing like it used to be. He doesn't drive to the basket, he's FG % inside the the 3-pt line was less than his actual 3-pt % this season.

I predict we let Damp go to get a big name free-agent. I think we'll either re-sign Haywood (although I hear his price is higher than we would have hoped based on his meetings with other teams) OR look at Al Jefferson as a more expensive replacement. Shaq won't be coming here for anything more than the MLE if anything.
