WTF Rangers declare bankruptcy?!?!?

Chapter 11 ftw

Quote:
the rangers bankruptcy, according to an article from the ap, is completely voluntary and has the support of mlb commissioner bud selig. The hope is that if the other big-league teams approve the move, it will clear the way for the team's sale to a group of investors led by former rangers pitcher and all-time strikeout leader nolan ryan.

It was done to help consolidate debt to Hick's investors so that Nolan and his group can buy the team.

Nolan is one of the owners in Chuck Greenberg's group.

No. The creditors held out and wouldn't settle with Nolan's group, because they thought there was a better offer out there. They weren't satisfied with the amount of money they would get from Greenberg. Mainly, because the land was owned by Hicks free and clear, and greenberg overvalued the land, which put more money in the pocket of Hicks, instead of that money going to creditors.

This left the Rangers two choices. For MLB to seize the team and push the sale through, or file bankruptcy.

I love how Tom Hicks, of all the douche bags in the universe, is standing up there saying that it is a GOOD THING that the Rangers are bankrupt.

WTF??? Seriously?

WOW, they still owe Alex Rodriguez 25 million, amazing, that was the worst deal of all time. He has to be bringing in $55 million a year right now. The yanks are paying him around 30 million a year.

Is it not? Doesn't this allow them to push the sale through, leaving the team in the hands of the new owners?

This bankruptcy won't really affect the Rangers, will it? I thought it would affect HSG, not the new owners.

From what greenberg said, the 75 million owed will not stop them from operating and being active. It sounded like they alloted money for the creditors.

A 21-page filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Fort Worth included the top 30 unsecured creditors, a list headed by Alex Rodriguez(notes), who is owed $24.9 million in deferred compensation six years after he was traded. The next five are also current or former players: Kevin Millwood(notes) ($12.9 million), Michael Young(notes) ($3.9 million), Vicente Padilla(notes) ($1.7 million), Mickey Tettleton ($1.4 million) and Mark McLemore(notes) ($970,000).

How do they still owe Mickey Tettleton??? He played in like the mid 90's, same thing for Mclemore.
