Draft Talk

T minus 6 days. Let's hear it. Post up your team, what you think their needs are, and who you think they will take in each round.

I'm more interested to hear that first, then we can get in to the big names, movers and shakers, etc.

Cowboys. Immediate needs are safety, left tackle, wr. Rumor has it, and I hope it's true, that Earl Thomas and the safety at Tennessee may still be there @ 21-22, and if so Jerry will wheel and deal to move up and get one of them. I hope that's the case, because the last thing this team needs is another OU Roy Williams. No offense to Mays, he is fun to watch, but his skills suck horribly and he WILL get exposed in the NFL. There is also rumor of them taking Shipley in the 2nd depending on how the other teams pick. I've heard they are also looking to possibly take the OU D lineman in the third to fourth if he is still there, but who knows. Spears has improved but they may be thinking they can get something for him.

I have a feeling Jerry is going to be conservative in this draft. I don't think he is going to try and move up. I do agree about Mays. I was watching him on the NFL network at the combine, dude looked like another Roy Williams. His coverage was terrible against college level receivers. I expect them to trade down for another 2 and maybe 3 pick. Earl Thomas will be gone by then. So they are going to have to rely heavily on their scouts this year and dig deep. They MUST get a couple of O-lineman.

Miami Dolphins
Needs are LB,SS,DT,TE

In the first round I would like them to pick up either Sergio Kindle or Earl Thomas (or on the off chance that Eric Berry drops to 12, take him).

St. Louis Rams - Where do I begin with this. Im torn with picking Sui from Nebraska cause he can really help out defensive line and bring a 1-2 punch with Jake Long on the other end of the line. Then on the otherhand the last two years we didnt pick Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, or Joe Flacco. So picking Sam Bradford would be a good move. Yes his shoulder was injured, but the same docter that fixed Drew Brees shoulder when it got injured. I know right now we arent going to be a contender, but as long as we are making good moves and getting better then its a good draft.

You never know. Jerry could very well be conserative, but it's not his style. He was conservative last year. But the 'rumor' I heard came from Someone within the organization that is VERY close to Jones.

You know he's always a mover and shaker on draft day. He likes the attention.

I'm bored so i'm just taking shit off of NFL.com haha oh well.

I definetly agree that the Denver Broncos need a WR they are short handed for sure. I'd like to see them go after Dez Bryant although looks like he might just be another Brandon Marshall off the field.

In the 2nd round i'd like to see the Denver Broncos go after a corner back or a pass rusher to compliment Elvis. Denver corner back pick last year Alphonso Smith has yet to cut out in my eyes.

All I can say for the Saints is keep working on that Defense cause the offense doesn't seem to be falling off at all. Just need to pick up a running back in the late rounds.

If pierre Thomas does not sign with the Saints then that changes everything and they need to draft a running back ASAP!

Last year's draft we drafted Stephen Hodge from TCU Safety in College, but Cowboys are converting him to ILB. He was placed on IR along with Brandon Williams from Texas Tech, who we are counting on both of them to be the future ILB duo.

And I love the idea of getting Jordan Shipley as a slot reciever and shopping Patrick Crayton. OL is a big need, False start Adams is gone and everyone on the line is 30+ years old.

So the Cowboys scouts/reps had Bruce Campbell in town, had him out for dinner last night at a certain local restaurant.

Interesting.... Kiper has him going to Cowboys @ 27, but he has been seen as high as #8 to Oakland. Also the same mocks that had him going 8th, also have 3 Sooners in the top 5. On the same note, Norm has two Sooner cbs as the top rated cbs.

Cowboys need to draft a coach and an outside GM.

Broncos need defense, WR and start thinking about a franchise QB.

i think seattle needs to think about the future. Hassellbeck hasnt been that good in the last few years. He has had injuries and hasnt been consistently in the lineup.

Houston Texans

Needs:

CB
Safety
DT
RB

As much as I hate to see it, I think the Texans will use their 1st round pick for a running back. Spiller will be long gone so they will pick up Matthews. If for some reason he is gone, I think the Texans will trade their 1st round pick and take Best in the 2nd round.

If Haden drops to 20 I don't see them passing him up, otherwise, I agree that they will probably be looking for a back. If they get a cb in the 1st, I think Gerhart would be a good steal that's gonna get overlooked.

I want to trade down actually, but not too far like in the past.
Golden Tate and Nate Allen would be nice.

The way they were talkin on NFL network wax that Jerry wanted to move out of the first round.

Stephen Jones kind of lead to this the other day on the ticket. Said they see a lot more talent further down in the draft, since it's so deep this year. If they are going to move up, I'd rather see then go for Berry, but Thomas is better than Mays, so....

Rumor: Cowboys target Thomas, trying to move up
By Tim MacMahon

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat mentions in a blog post that the buzz in the Bay Area is that the Cowboys are talking trade with the San Francisco 49ers.

The target for is Texas' Earl Thomas, a playmaking safety who would be a perfect fit for the Cowboys. The question: Is Thomas worth what it would take to move up to No. 13 overall?

The Press-Democrat speculates that the deal could get done if the Cowboys give up their top three picks (Nos. 27, 59 and 90). That's a steep price to pay, considering the Cowboys have a significant need for quality offensive line depth among other things.

But Thomas could be an instant impact player. The only thing keeping the Cowboys' defense from being dominant is a lack of turnovers. Thomas had 10 picks and five fumble recoveries in two seasons at Texas.

It's a steep price to pay, but the Cowboys are in win-now mode. Moving up for Thomas makes sense for a franchise determined to play a Super Bowl in its own $1.2 billion stadium this winter.

UPDATE: Someone in the know pretty much shot down the rumor, responding with amusement when told about that and saying he didn't see the Cowboys making such a deal.

Doubting 'Boys go after Thomas

Good morning and welcome to one of the greatest days on the NFL calendar. While I stepped out for a moment Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat's 49ers blog suggested that Jerry Jones might make a play for Texas safety Earl Thomas. It sounded pretty unlikely to me since the Cowboys would have to give up the first two days of their draft to make it happen.

But just to make sure, I checked with sources on the ground at Valley Ranch. They indicated there was no way the Cowboys would move all the way up the board to select Thomas. He's certainly a special player, but not that special. From what I'm hearing this morning, the more likely scenario would be to trade down and select South Florida's Nate Allen in the second round.

Now the Eagles are a different story. New general manager Howie Roseman is very interested in moving into the top 15, according to a report ESPN's Sal Paolantonio filed to the Beast on Wednesday. If the Eagles do make a move, I think Thomas would be a likely candidate. It would be high drama to watch the Eagles leapfrog the Giants in the first round. Here's hoping Roseman makes another splash this evening.

And what are the Skins thinking this morning? I'll get to that in a moment.

Why Trading Down Could Be Possible
Posted by rphillips at 4/21/2010 5:32 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

In a Wednesday segment with 1310-AM The Ticket host Norm Hitzges, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team sees 23 first-round caliber players in this year's draft.

The Cowboys are picking at No. 27. Do the math.

If those guys are all gone by then, it tells me the Cowboys could be in position to trade down and try to recoup the pick (fifth round) they lost in the Montrae Holland trade. Or, as Jones pointed out, it's quite possible other teams have varying grades and a prospect they really like will slide right to them.

We'll see. Already there are rumors that the Cowboys might try to move up. (That would seem unlikely, since it would probably requiring dipping well into next year's pool.)

Again, this close to the draft, don't take every word to the bank. Teams have no intention of revealing their hand.

Wait, what? You're calling him a bust based on the fact that he had the worst offensive line in the NFL? I could understand it if he had time in the pocket or at least more than 1 second to get the ball away and still wasn't helping them win games, but come one man, their O-line gave up the most sacks in the NFL last year. Look how good he was with the Patriots, which was because he had an O-line that could actually block and give him some time to do something besides figure out which way to run.

Sailor, I don't know about KC being the worst o line. Washington, and St Louis might have something to say about that.

Nate Allen... Is that the USF safety that Jenkins played with? I wouldn't be opposed to that at all. They know ECG other and their style of play, etc. That's always a benefit.

Hopefully the Cowboys trade down to get Dez Bryant ( see you later roy uno uno). Or Earl Thomas in first round. And the Cowboys already made it clear they love Jordan Shipley as a slot reciever ( see you later Patrick Crayton) Cowboys could get something???... for both Crayton and Uno Uno. The rest of the draft pick up Offensive Linemen and Defensive Backs.. Remember there were a bunch of injuries to the Cowboys rookies last year, that they didn't get any playing time so they get to go thru rookie camps again. Should have a lot of young talent in the locker room this year..

Matt Cassel isnt a superstar but he's far from a bust.

I watched a lot of KC games where they just handed the ball off on 3rd and 7 each time. It annoyed the shit outta me since i had Cassel on my fantasy team.
