The way they were talkin on NFL network wax that Jerry wanted to move out of the first round.
Stephen Jones kind of lead to this the other day on the ticket. Said they see a lot more talent further down in the draft, since it's so deep this year. If they are going to move up, I'd rather see then go for Berry, but Thomas is better than Mays, so....
Oh yeah i've read about us wanting to move up.. some wanting us to move down.
who knows what going on in the Jerry & Stephen Jones minds right now.
Wade is probably sleeping on the couch right now.
Rumor: Cowboys target Thomas, trying to move up
By Tim MacMahon
The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat mentions in a blog post that the buzz in the Bay Area is that the Cowboys are talking trade with the San Francisco 49ers.
The target for is Texas' Earl Thomas, a playmaking safety who would be a perfect fit for the Cowboys. The question: Is Thomas worth what it would take to move up to No. 13 overall?
The Press-Democrat speculates that the deal could get done if the Cowboys give up their top three picks (Nos. 27, 59 and 90). That's a steep price to pay, considering the Cowboys have a significant need for quality offensive line depth among other things.
But Thomas could be an instant impact player. The only thing keeping the Cowboys' defense from being dominant is a lack of turnovers. Thomas had 10 picks and five fumble recoveries in two seasons at Texas.
It's a steep price to pay, but the Cowboys are in win-now mode. Moving up for Thomas makes sense for a franchise determined to play a Super Bowl in its own $1.2 billion stadium this winter.
UPDATE: Someone in the know pretty much shot down the rumor, responding with amusement when told about that and saying he didn't see the Cowboys making such a deal.
Doubting 'Boys go after Thomas

Good morning and welcome to one of the greatest days on the NFL calendar. While I stepped out for a moment Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat's 49ers blog suggested that Jerry Jones might make a play for Texas safety Earl Thomas. It sounded pretty unlikely to me since the Cowboys would have to give up the first two days of their draft to make it happen.
But just to make sure, I checked with sources on the ground at Valley Ranch. They indicated there was no way the Cowboys would move all the way up the board to select Thomas. He's certainly a special player, but not that special. From what I'm hearing this morning, the more likely scenario would be to trade down and select South Florida's Nate Allen in the second round.
Now the Eagles are a different story. New general manager Howie Roseman is very interested in moving into the top 15, according to a report ESPN's Sal Paolantonio filed to the Beast on Wednesday. If the Eagles do make a move, I think Thomas would be a likely candidate. It would be high drama to watch the Eagles leapfrog the Giants in the first round. Here's hoping Roseman makes another splash this evening.
And what are the Skins thinking this morning? I'll get to that in a moment.
Why Trading Down Could Be Possible

In a Wednesday segment with 1310-AM The Ticket host Norm Hitzges, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team sees 23 first-round caliber players in this year's draft.
The Cowboys are picking at No. 27. Do the math.
If those guys are all gone by then, it tells me the Cowboys could be in position to trade down and try to recoup the pick (fifth round) they lost in the Montrae Holland trade. Or, as Jones pointed out, it's quite possible other teams have varying grades and a prospect they really like will slide right to them.
We'll see. Already there are rumors that the Cowboys might try to move up. (That would seem unlikely, since it would probably requiring dipping well into next year's pool.)
Again, this close to the draft, don't take every word to the bank. Teams have no intention of revealing their hand.
