Silva by KO and BJ by RNC... hoping to catch the live broadcast at zen if they have it, otherwise I'll have to stay off the next all day.

Im thinking the BJ Penn fight will go the distance. Frankie Edgar is on top of his game.

Anderson should have Damien covered if the fight stays on the feet. But if it goes to the ground. He is going to have problem.

I cant stand Matt Hughes. But is will have Gracie covered with ease.

This UFC plain sucked, other than the Grove/Munoz fight to start the day.

I have to say that decision for Edgar was one of the worst I've seen. 50-45, and a 49-46? Really?

And As for Silva, his antics today really made me less of a fan.

Oh and Huges/Gracie, did they agree to not really fight each other, and just have an exibition fight, jesus

I did research it and it said it was at 7 PM tonight. I guess I didn't see the details about the 7 PM broadcast being a replay.

So who were the winners?

not at all

It was disappointing by both. I really don't see how the judges gave it to Edgar, they way they did. One judge gave Edgar all 5 rounds, another gave him 4 rounds, and the third gave him 3 rounds.

Everyone in the bar was amazed at the decision. Edgar is the first lightweight to take BJ Penn down in 6 years, but it was for less than 2 seconds.

Jesus Christ. That was BULLSHIT. Horrible fucking fight. If I was Dana White I would seriously consider asking Silva if he even wanted to fight in the UFC again. Despicable. If you're that fucking good, knock him out.

Nah, this card didn't interest me all that much. I didn't even watch it. And by the general response to it, glad I didn't.

I have to say that I am surprise BJ lost at 155. Never thought that would happen. So much for him changing weight classes again.

He seriously looked like he just woke up with a hangover. Slow, never pressed the action, always on the counter and never produced anything but a few jabs, a couple decent combos. I kept waiting for him to size Edgar up and go... never happened. He deserved to lose.

What exactly did Edgar do ? I mean, besides hop around a bunch. He got countered pretty much every time he engaged. He did not do enough to take the belt, not even close.

He only has to cut to 185 for the weigh-in, after that he can put on as much as he wants. It's typical for most fighters to normally be 10-15 pounds heavier than their weigh-in weight.

You just don't quite get it.

Silva is HUGE for a 185'er...I know he cuts to 185 and puts it back on...but now he has to cut an ADDITIONAL 15 lbs of weight the day before the fight. It will be hard to do for someone who walks around at 210-220 lbs.

He will not get down to 170, no way and if he does he will be drained and weak. GSP would be a fool to try and go up to 185 and fight him. Let Silva be the head case that he is. Silva should move up to light heavies and be done with it.

Fight Metrics for the Penn Edgar fight.

Still don't understand how anyone could score that for Edgar much less 50-45...

I saw the fight just like the Fightmetric analysis.

You can't win the belt, dancing and avoiding, you have to take it from the champ.

I don't understand what the big deal is about Anderson Silva, he made this guy look like a fucking chump, if he's that fucking good, let him. Those first 2.5 rounds were ridiculously awesome, its Dana's fault that he couldn't get him a caliber opponent. I have no blame on Anderson, they want to put him up against shit, he proved that he had this guy insanely out classed and took no chances, perfect strategy for a guy that constantly gets talked shit about for not fighting 3 times a year.

I think Edger took the fight. Not by The #'s the judges say but he deff won that fight. Penn didn't even look like The same fighter that fought Deigo, and it Looked to me that when the bell sounded on the 5th round he know he lost.

I watched one of his weigh-ins and he came in at 182 and didn't look anywhere near drained. I'm not saying he can do it easily, but i bet he can and will do it

and shouldn't Vitor Belfort be next for Silva if he's healthy?

ps. for those that dont get it, i'm making fun of strikeforce in the same line, because both are/were a joke and one no cares enough about either to recall the name.

Actually I do get it. It's prefectly clear. It's not like I just started following the sport because I don't post much about it in here. He puts his body through hell and back before every fight in order to meet the weight requirement for what ever class he is fighting in. You'd be surprised how disciplined some people are when it comes to shit like cutting weight. And for some it even comes easy.

This. I know he ran around the ring acting like a fool but I mean why the hell do they keep putting him against people who aren't going to challenge him? He's a really good fighter and is making these people look like chumps.

I don't think he can cut down THAT much to fight GSP and i don't think GSP will go up in weight so i wonder what will happen. I think Silva will do the same to GSP.

Don't talk about it! Be about it!

Can they agree on a specific weigh in weight? So Silva doesn't have to cut so much and GSP can pack some on? OR will it be a title fight for GSP?

It was BS because people paid good money to see Silva fight, not run around and play games like a tool bag. Ok one round of busting on him, askin him to fight, showing how much he's outclassed... Cool. Make your point. Then knock him out. If you're gonna puff up your chest and be Baddest Of The Bad, then do it. Don't prance around the ring and not do shit for 3 rounds.

Cruz, it would be the same as you getting a super high paying job in IT with tons of qualifications, starting a monster project and claiming you can handle it and telling everyone it's childs play... Then kicking back and squeaking out the bare minimum and the new program barely operating. Sure, it's done, but you didn't do the job you were contracted to do.

I think the issue people are forgetting is Silva won the first 3 rounds with his eyes closed. Its his belt, if the other guy wanted the belt, maybe he should have attacked some instead of expecting the champ who is far ahead already to push the fight. In the end what did maia do to push the fight? what did he really do to win? He had one good flurry where he actually attacked, after that he just stood there and got mad because he wouldn't push the fight?

Cruz, it would be the same as you getting a super high paying job in IT with tons of qualifications, starting a monster project and claiming you can handle it and telling everyone it's childs play... Then kicking back and squeaking out the bare minimum and the new program barely operating. Sure, it's done, but you didn't do the job you were contracted to do.
/i thought he was brought in to defend his belt, not knock the guy out. Its the challengers job to push the fight and take the belt..

You're looking at it all wrong. If Silva is the best pound for pound fighter, then he shouldn't be toying with anyone, he should be finishing fights

Devil's advocate.

His job is to win fights, take the least amount of damage as possible, and retain his title.

But a win is a win. He is the champion. He doesnt have to know him out to win. There was no question in anyones mind who won the fight. Id say regardless of if you like how he did it, he proved the point that he is far better

I think what Bert is saying is. The guy looked like a fucking Monkey in the ring & was beating his chest like a fucking Ape! If your that cocky about yourself. KNOCK THE GUY OUT & MAKE IT LOOK NASTY! DESTROY THE GUY. Why fuck off round after round! Do your job & give the fans what they really want to see! If your going to be that cocky end it in KNOCKOUT FASHION!
