Kobe Bryant signs Three-Year deal $90 Million contract extension

Apr 2, 2010 - As we drew closer to July 1, it appeared that the much hyped free agent class of 2010 would - remarkably - include Kobe Bryant, because it seemed talks of a contract extension with the Lakers had stalled.

Well, so much for that, because Bryant has signed a three-year maximum contract extension with the Lakers, according to the team. Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski says the contract is worth approximately $90 million, meaning Bryant will earn the league's highest salary when it takes effect in 2011/12.

Bryant is eligible to receive $27.4 million in 2011/12, $30 million in 2012/13 and $32.6 million in 2013/14, according to Fanhouse's Tom Ziller.

Bryant had the right to opt out of his existing deal this summer. He originally signed a seven-year maximum contract extension with the Lakers following the 2003/04 season.

Buzz up! PrintKobe Bryant(notes) has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers on a three-year extension that could be worth more than $90 million.

Bryant has had the contract sitting on the table throughout the season and finally reached agreement in the last 24 hours, sources say. He could have opted out of his current deal this summer and become part of the NBA’s historic free-agent class, but will now likely finish his career with the Lakers.

Bryant, 31, is a four-time NBA champion and the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player.

Here is whats going to happen this offseason.

Lebron is either going to stay with the Cavaliers or go to the Knicks or Nets.
Chris Bosh is leaving the Raptors, and who could blame him.
Dwayne Wade is either going to stay with the Heat if they someone like Bosh or Staudimire, or hes going to Chicago.
Joe Johnson has a bunch of places that he could go to if he decides to leave.
And Dirk isnt going anywhere

lol well i think if the mavs can find a way to get another scorer like Joe Johnson then I think they will be better. I like Caron Butler, but Johnson has a better range and has a better shooting touch than Butler. I think its the right thing to do to let Dirk finish his career in Dallas. Lets face it, yea you might not like his style of play or the fact that his is soft at times. But 10 years ago no one outside of Dallas gave a crap about the Mavs. Now a decade later, they have alot of games on TNT, ESPN, ABC, and NBATV. The Mavs are popular everywhere.

So you think Dirk is the reason why the mavs haven't won a championship? Do you even know anything about basketball?
