Kobe Bryant signs Three-Year deal $90 Million contract extension
Apr 2, 2010 - As we drew closer to July 1, it appeared that the much hyped free agent class of 2010 would - remarkably - include Kobe Bryant, because it seemed talks of a contract extension with the Lakers had stalled.
Well, so much for that, because Bryant has signed a three-year maximum contract extension with the Lakers, according to the team. Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski says the contract is worth approximately $90 million, meaning Bryant will earn the league's highest salary when it takes effect in 2011/12.
Bryant is eligible to receive $27.4 million in 2011/12, $30 million in 2012/13 and $32.6 million in 2013/14, according to Fanhouse's Tom Ziller.
Bryant had the right to opt out of his existing deal this summer. He originally signed a seven-year maximum contract extension with the Lakers following the 2003/04 season.
