Mavs vs Nuggets

Most important game of the year to this point so far. Mavs are 2nd in the conference and have a .5 game lead on Denver and Utah and 1 game on the Suns. They can stretch it, or fall back to 4th place with a loss. They can make things a lot easier on themselves by winning tonight.

Let Roddy have some minutes!

Anybody else have dishnetwork and get pissed off when they only show the game locally on channel 21. It doesn't come as HD on dishnetwork, so I have to go to the rabbit ears, which of course takes forever and a day to get the signal.

I agree Marc. This game is huge. I hope the Mavs rise to the occasion. I really like the make up of this team. If they decide to play tough defense they are hard to beat.

Even if we win, keep an eye on Utah. Most of their remaining schedule is against sub-.500 teams.

GO MAVS!!!

I heard a Carlile interview a few weeks ago about Roddy B. Interviewer asked why he wasn't getting more minutes. Carlile's response was that he hasn't earned them, and they don't give minutes to people that haven't earned them. This obviously means he has been slacking off in practice. And I agree, don't give the guy minutes just because he plays well when he is on the floor. If he isn't busting his ass in practice, he doesn't even deserve to sit on the bench, period.

With the slacking of some other players recently, hopefully Roddy has been practicing hard, because he was on fire the other night.

I'm hopeful, but this game worries me. We could potentially go form 2 seed to 4 with a loss. I don't like the seeding implications and the match ups that will come from the Mavs going in as a lower seed. I'm not worried about beating anyone in the West in a 7 game series, except for the Nuggets.

oh i agree with you, but atleast guy is just putting on a show on the court.
it really works over the white fan in the stands, which is a big plus in denver colorado. off the court the guy doesnt sport the look and attitude. probably unlike "k-mart" and some of his teammates.

It's a decent little sports bar similar to the Old No. 7 club but a bit smaller.

In another note...NJ nets are about to knock off the SA Spurs. This will be their 3rd win in 4 games...and their 10th of the year...so Devin won't be associated with the worst team ever in NBA history.

Looking at the box, Gin-blo-me didn't play tonight for SA. He's been their catalyst with Parker out, so that explains them going down.

I thought tonight would be a good test and they impressed me with how they held back Anthony and the rest of the Nuggets. Seeing Anthony head back to the lock room early was icing on the cake to Dirk's triple double. Go Mavs!

I heard/read this was a great game. I missed it unfortunately. It sounds like they locked down on the defensive end of the floor. My only negative point is that we were playing at home. Denver is terrible on the road this year. That might play well for us in the playoffs if we get the higher seed.

Surprised no one mentioned this but the Lakers lost as well last night to the Hornets in NO. No way we catch the Lakers but it certainly demoralizes them some I'm sure. Not sure if anyone was out for the Lakers last night but it certainly gives a boost to Paul and the Hornets taking out the number one seed in the west.

There was an interesting article in the DMN the other day about Hot Rod that I thought I'd share. Makes sense, he doesn't play in the big games much unless they have a comfortable lead or someone is in foul trouble. Last night was not the case.

Some key stats. 15 minutes, 5 points. Doesn't seem like much but he was 1-4 from the 3 and had 3 steals. I think he really only made one error when Kidd wasn't on the floor when he let the clock run down. Rookie mistake and I think his time on the floor last night was productive. The boy is quick both on his feet and on his hands. If we can hang on to him for a few years I see good things for him.

More goodies on Mavericks' Roddy Beaubois
from *DALLAS MAVERICKS* Blog | The *Dallas* Morning News by Eddie Sefko/Reporter

There are some interesting things to note about Roddy Beaubois' showings lately.

Some of this comes courtesy of our good buddy over at The Ticket, Norm Hitzges. He mentioned on his show this morning about how Roddy B. has run up most of his big games against bad teams, including 40 points Saturday at Golden State.

Couldn't be more true.

A little research shows that Beaubois has hit double figures this season 13 times. All of those games except one came against sub-.500 teams. And the one team above .500 was Milwaukee very early in the season when the Bucks weren't that great.

The Mavericks, are 11-2 in those games when Beaubois scores 10 or more. But against the competition, shouldn't they be?

Incidentally, J.J. Barea has reached double figures 22 times and the Mavericks are 14-8 in those games. Of the teams Barea has reached 10 or more points against, 13 of them are .500 or above.

Doesn't detract from what Beaubois has done. But it's going to be very interesting going forward to see how he handles tougher defensive competition.

By the way, according to Mavericks' research only four rookies have scored 40 or more points in franchise history.

Mark Aguirre 42 points on 11/14/1981
Jay Vincent 41 points on 12/29/81
Jay Vincent 40 points on 2/16/82
Roddy Beaubois 40 points on 3/27/10

He was with the Mavs in the 80s. Since you've got the old school Mavs logo, I'm surprised you're not familar with him. He was around in the days of Aguirre, Blackman, Donaldson, Harper, Detlef Shrempf, Bill Wennington, etc.

Yea, well I am kind of too young to know some of those guys. I guess I caught the tail end of that era. I remember watching them retire Brad Davis' number. And I remember Harper playing. It was right before Jim Jackson, Mashburn and Kidd showed up. I am only 27.
