The Sports Central board

has gone to shit. Without the NFL this place has just gone completely quiet. I guess you can only talk NBA basketball, spring training baseball, and college basketball for so long until there isn't much else to say. To be honest, I am really getting tired of having nothing but basketball highlights on ESPN.

Football fans live vicariously through their team/player addictions, baseball fans are much more intelligent and just sit back and enjoy the game in all it's splendor.

In other words, baseball fans are old, retired men who remember the good ole days of no steroids and 250 million dollar contracts.

Good for him, not everyone can shake the ineptitude of their parents!

MOST of the time with baseball, if you didn't play it or were just not any good, you don't like it

It was the first for me. I never played it because I just couldn't get in to it. I prefer fast moving sports.

The kiddo is playing pinto league this year though, so that may change.

Ovechkin will sit out the Capitals next two games and is forced to forfeit $232,000 of salary.

I think that is a little bit over board.... Think they are using him as a example considering the type of caliber player he is.

That's understandable. Sometime last week on the Dan Patrick Show he was discussing this as well. Something along the lines of todays kids don't like playing baseball as much because of it being "boring". That and needing more than TWO people to play, unlike basketball

I don't particularly think he should have been suspended. Ovie let up on the hit and Campbell lost his edge at the point of contact. It did deserve a 5 minute boarding and possibly a game but could have been squashed after that. On the other hand Cooke should have gotten 4-5 games and Wisniewski got what he should have.

Exactly my thoughts on Ovie. He pulled up and just gave a shove. Soupy's ankle contorts and he goes awkwardly into the endboards. Just a series of random events. Were it a knee-to-knee hit (again) I wouldn't have a problem with the 2-gamer.

Cooke: "legal" hit that should have been reviewed under the 'emphasis to hits to the head' that Colin Campbell keeps bringing up when he wants to enforce something. First of all Boston should have done ANYthing instead of stand around. And in the "retaliation" game, I respect Cooke for dropping the gloves with a guy who is much more seasoned in Shawn Thornton. But as for my general opinion of Cooke, he's constantly blurring the line between legal and illegal (he's a former Canuck for fuck's sake) and he's not a stranger to suspensions OR turtling when it comes to his actions.

Wisnewski's hit on the other hand was hard, and it was probably a charge, but I dont think it was anything intentional towards the head. It was the fact that it was an Olympic caliber player for one of the NHL's marquee franchises, who just lost Brian Campbell (see: Ovie) that I think the suspension was so harsh. If Seabrook pops back up this isn't even an issue.

I've gotta holler at you sometime this week...

so fuckin'

No one likes March Madness around here? I think this is one of the more exciting few weeks in sports. I'm all about the NFL, but March Madness is badass.
