Mavs vs Lakers

Tip at 8pm.

Predictions?

Being a Mavs homer, I'm gonna go with Dallas. We'e been playing great D the last few games since the trade. We got home court advantage and the Lakers played last night. Kobe was out 5 games and came back last night and played 40+ mins in his first game back from a bum ankle. I know all that don't mean jack, but that's my reasoning.

A few interesting tidbits..... Von Wafer signed to a 10-day contract to play at the 2-guard position. Not sure what immediate need we had other than maybe JET and JJ kinda stinkin' lately.... his back has been giving him a little trouble, so I'm not sure what we'll find out in 10 days. ? Should be a good game, but I sure wish Damp was back to team up with Haywood as opposed to going to an undersized Najera.

Ok, so I change my prediction to the Lakers. Caron Butler is not playing tonight due to a bad reaction to some medication. Go Mavs!!

Close game so far....Lakers leading the Mavs 50-49 at the half. Lakers were up 48-39, but the Mavs went on a 10-2 run to close out the half.

Mavs up 74-72 headed to the 4th. Could be much better for the Mavs, but they've missed more than a couple layups and have 15 turnovers.

9 mins to go and Mavs up 80-78. So far, Kobe only has 14 points. Who'd a thunk it? Somehow, I bet he finishes with at least 25.

That was a great game, even though I was pulling for the Lakers. Terry is a badass, btw, and Dirk was on fire.

Thumbs up

This was my first chance to watch an entire game since the trade. I know Butler is the big name in the trade but Haywood and Stevenson are CONTRIBUTERS. Stevenson was on Kobe like flies on shit! This team has a good chance to do some damage.

So is Damp gone for the season? As much as I hate ol brick hands, they need him back. (though I feel Haywood deserves more of the minutes)

Damp will be back sooner than later. He had a finger dislocation where his bone was shot through his skin, nasty.

Haywood is fucking great.

Huge statement game for the Mavs with Butler being out... Stevenson just flat out shut down Kobe. Excellent win, hopefully they will feed off of this and roll with it! If everyone can stay healthy now, once Damp comes back look out western conf!

Mavs have a chance to really string together some wins over the next 10-15 games. Aside from the next game at Atlanta, everyone else is hovering around .500 or just flat out sucks.

at Atlanta
New Orleans
at Charlotte
Minnesota
Sacramento
at Chicago
at Minnesota
New Jersey
New York
Chicago

after that 10, there's a few more winnables before they get back into a little meatier part of the schedule.
Boston
at New Orleans
LA Clippers

Stevenson was great on Kobe. I particularly liked when him and Artest got tangled up... I love the added toughness to our "soft white team"... LOL. Terry FINALLY had a good game... Lord knows he was due for one. Dirk was Redirkulous as usual.....

Aren't you a Spurs fan? They're looking a bit 'normal' this year, but this is about the time they usually start to make a run.

Great game last night. Mavs are really stepping it up and I hope this carries through the rest of the season. Jason Kidd has been a different person since the break and I like it. How many steals did he have last night? I hope Terry has finally gotten out of his fund. Finally got to see Stephenson play some extended time and I like what I saw. Same goes for Haywood. What I am disappointed in has been JJ's play lately. Man, I saw like two missed point blank shots

That goes for the whole team...Marion (as usual) missed a couple easy ones...as did JET. It would have been a hard lost to take if we lost by a point or two with as many missed layups as we had.

The trade for Jefferson is about to become a bust for them. He was thought as a guy that could get 15 to 20 points an night, but the Slow pace Spurs offense dosent match his style. In New Jersey he scored 20 ppg cause that was a fastbreak offense with Kidd.
