No. Not at all. He's steadily gone downhill. I just wonder who if anyone will pick him up.

There is no telling where he will end up. The link I found didn't mention any possible teams that were interested.

Looks like the last couple of years he's had injuries, not helping his stay in San Diego. I think someone will pick him up for maybe year or two if he's lucky.

Change in offense schemes haven't helped him. He'll land somewhere and give it hell for awhile.

Not surprised at all. His production sucks, plus he's a whiner. He is well past his prime. He'll have 2-3 more seasons in the NFL, might even help a team get to the Playoffs.

Now that we know he's a bust, can we just start calling him LaDainian Tomlinson again? Because I'm sure the real L.T. is pissed about it.

I wouldn't call him a bust. He had 2 or 3 years that he was the best. RB's can't be that good for more than few years before the hits start to pile up.

Everyone including LT himself knew it was going to happen. I'm more interested in seeing who the Chargers try to pick up than where LT goes from here. In reality, Darren Sproles is good running back, but he a speed and cut runner, not a power and straight ahead runner. He can tear up some defenses, but I don't see him being the #1 guy unless they bring in a Larry Johnson or Cedris Benson type back that can share the duties and can clear holes and pound it through the line.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots tried to get LT. They are always going after old worn out RB's. I mean the guy still has game left in him even though he has lost a step, but I doubt he'll be in a starting role unless it's for a shit team like Detroit, Washington, Seattle, etc, not that he would necessarily go play for one of those teams. If the Pats don't try to get him I would think he would land with a team with a good starter already but lacking a solid guy to spell the starter, or maybe just looking for a nice 3rd down back or any down & a yard or less to go situations.

I wouldn't bet against it. There are 4 backs in the Cowboys lineup and none of them have really taken the leadership of being the starter. Granted, Barber is listed as the starter, but he batted injury for a good portion of the season and just overall didn't get a lot done on the ground like they had hoped. If they were to bring in LT I think that would give them a nice look having 2 guys that are very capable having breakaway speed and still have the power to hit the holes hard. If they did bring him in they would have to let Choice or Donaldson go. If Felix Jones can stay healthy I see him doing really well as the starter with a guy like LT backing him up.

You can't totally blame the guy though with Tuner playing the Rivers card 40-50 times per game. Sure the guy has lost a step, and I'm not even a fan of him or that team, but you can't expect to get much done on the ground that way. The Chargers the last couple of years have reminded me a lot of the Colts offense in the sense of being pass happy and keeping the ball in the QB's hands and letting him try to manage and win the game. Obviously the Chargers don't execute on offense or defense like the Colts, so they are sucking hind tit come playoff time(if they even get that far).

Ladanian Tomlinson need's to get picked up by the Saints... Cut Lynell Hamilton and Duece since he got his ring already. Re-unite Drew Brees and LT once again and also Reggie Bush and LT are good friends.

Problem solved already then... Just cut Hamilton and pick up LT.

Pierre Thomas
Mike Bell <--- (IMHO they can also cut Mike Bell he is a decent back and I've always liked him even when he played for Denver behind Tatum but I just think LT would do more for the Saints.)
Reggie Bush

I just did. He accumulated a lot of yards and didn't accomplish anything. 2009 was his worst year stats-wise, but the Chargers had a great season when they gave him the ball less. When someone mentions Tomlinson, all I think of is a losing whiner that wanted to get paid.

The real LT was also NFL MVP, but he was the only defensive player to do so.

Good luck to whoever gets Tomlinson, but I don't expect to see him have a Favre-like twilight to his career. Just a whimper, then gone.

Houston would be a good place for him to go, especially after Slaton's butterfingers this past year.

He has limited options for sure, but Houston would be a good destination for him. It would give Houston what they need, and give him a place to retire. I don't think LT realizes that he isn't worth what he thinks he is, though. I don't think Houston needs a stud, workhorse type back. They've got enough weapons to be an aerial team, like the Colts, Chargers, etc. They just need someone who can muster 3 yards here, 4 yards there, and hang on to the fucking football.

Houston would be a good fit. The Texans could use a guy in the backfield that has experience. Something that they dont have, hmm that other team in Texas could use that too. Being that Marion Barber cant get a freaking yard. Also there is a rumor that if the Saints dont bring back Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas that Brees would want Tomlinson in his backfield.

I don't think there is room for him here even if they trade Barber off.

Maybe it's just me, but I'll take Choice or Jones on their worst days, over an aging, whiny LT anyday of the week, and twice on Sunday.

I agree sorta of, Barber was good, but like every other big brusing back, he's spent. FJ & TC are very capable backs but they are kinda of small and have been hurt a lot, so why not keep the three headed monster with LT and he could also be revitilized next season during our SB run ...'H'

The Chiefs still have Kolby Smith as well. I don't think he ever got a real shake with LJ being an attention whore. I actually think Smith could be a great back if he had a real opportunity to play and had a descent o-line to throw a couple blocks here and there. He has looked really good in all of his 3 preseasons, imo.

I think the problem with Tomlinson is where ever he goes hes going to want to be a starter. The problem with that is his knees and wear and tear. Id rather take Westbrook cause he has played in a multiple back system and if he is healthy mentally then he can be used to both run and catch.

Just like I said!!! http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/02/25/are-...for-tomlinson/

INDIANAPOLIS — The Super Bowl champion Saints could be creating a vacancy for RB LaDainian Tomlinson by apparently allowing Mike Bell to become a free agent. Bell was not one of the 13 restricted free agents they tendered on Thursday. Neither was Pro Bowl guard Jahri Evans, but he will be back on the team, either through a long-term deal or by placing a restricted free agent tender on him by next Thursday’s deadline.

New Orleans could try to lock up Bell by then but that seems unlikely since his role diminished as the season wore on. By letting Bell walk the Saints might acquiesce to quarterback Drew Brees’ wishes to bring in Tomlinson, who was released by the Chargers on Monday. Brees, who carries substantial swagger, mentioned on his Twitter page this week that he wouldn’t mind being reunited with his former San Diego teammate.

“I would love to get LT in the black and gold,” Brees tweeted on Tuesday. “Crazier things have happened.”

On Thursday, Brees seemed to be backing off a bit. “Appreciate everyone’s input on LT,” he tweeted. “First off, I love who we have … Pierre, Reg, Bell, Train … might be the best stable of backs in the NFL. LT and I go way back … we’ve been thru a lot together … I just want the best for him … he will land on his feet, trust me.”

The Saints likely won’t rush to nab Tomlinson at the start of free agency on March 5, but it seems reasonable they would explore the possibility of signing him. New Orleans did its due diligence on veteran Edgerrin James last offseason before opting for Bell, but the Saints have an open mind when it comes checking out veteran running backs.

Tomlinson would be a role player should he end up with the Saints. New Orleans used three running backs –- sometimes four -– last season, with Pierre Thomas being the main starter, Reggie Bush being the top backup, and Bell or Lynell Hamilton as the third tailback. And the Saints plan on bringing Bush back, as my colleague Jason La Canfora reported on Thursday.

Evans, meanwhile, is the Saints’ best lineman and one of three Pro Bowlers from the front five. If a long-term deal isn’t reached, New Orleans likely would place a first- and third-round restricted free agent tender on him, meaning that would be the compensation they would receive from another team that tried to sign him. That high tender has proven a worthy deterrent when placed on players.

Are Saints paving path for Tomlinson?

Chargers are allowing Darren Sproles to test the free agency market. I guess they'll be aiming for a RB in the 1st round? Pretty stupid of them really. Sproles is a good back and returner. Shaving themselves down to strictly rookies in the backfield can't be smart.
