In the tradition of The Ticket's "Uniform Czar" of old, I'm really getting sick of the way uniform combinations are being used.
Saturday night took the cake: Texas A&M wearing white helmets. WTF. I never liked the white jersey with white pants look they sometimes wear on the road, but the white helmet is BAD BULL. It wasnít a good look in the 60ís, itís still not a good look. What the hell is going on? Just keep it simple, maroon on white pants or white on maroon pants. No maroon on maroon, no white on white, no grey pants, and no freaking white helmets!!!!
Other college instabilities: Oregon. Theyíre infamous for uniform instability. They started this season looking like they might have done away with their craziness: Just normal Green and Yellow (which isnít a good color combo to start with, we had that look in high school and I hated it).
But then they returned to their bad ways with the Diamond Plate look
and Winged shoulders with metallic colored numbers.
MLB: What the hell is up with the two teams both wearing their third solid color uniís? What the hell was wrong with the home team wearing white with the team name (or symbol in the case of NY) and the away team wearing grey with the team location on it??? It worked for over 100 years. I know the third jersey is a marketing money maker, and I didnít mind it being used by the home team on day games. But this year I saw far too many games where the home and away teams were wearing their third jerseys at the same time.
Having said all that, I have to say I have enjoyed the NFLís tribute to the 50 year reunion of the AFL with the AFL throwback games. I donít mind the throwbacks, as long as both teams do it. Iím really excited about this weekís game of the 1960 Dallas Cowboys vs. the 1960 Dallas Texans.
What are other uniform instabilities I'm missing?
