No worries, I'm good for my word. I can't wait for this fight. And I would like to see Silva vs Lutter again if Lutter can actually show up to the fight in shape. He looked really pale when he failed to make weight and threw away his title fight....

I would like to see the Lutter Silva fight again as well. I think Lutter could have pulled that one off if he was so drained from cutting weight.

But Penn is going to wipe the floor with Joe Daddy.

Don't see it happening. I don't care what they say about his loss to Matt Hughes, he was simply overpowered. I think that Stevenson will be able to do the same and he I would think that after all the time with Mark Laimon that he will be well prepared for any time they spend on the ground. I'm just hoping that his conditioning is top notch, training in Big Bear can't hurt but this will be his 1st 5 round fight.

BJ controlled the Matt Hughes fight until he petered out, period. 155 is where Penn should have been fighting all along. He wiped the floor with Matt Hughes at 170 in their first fight when Matt was in his prime. That is saying alot. Hughes is alot stronger than Stevenson. Strength is not going to be a factor in this fight. Penn is too well rounded for Stevenson. Stevenson is going to get ko'd or sub'd in the 1st round. The only way he makes it to the 2nd is if he runs laps in the ring until the bell rings.lol

Ouch, such a harsh label! LOL, I'll never bet against him. I think that Stevenson has earned the right for the title and we'll see who's hand is raised. I'm surprised that so many people have already counted Stevenson out of this. And I would think its the TUF noobs that would be sackriding BJ from watching the highlights and after his win over Pulver. Sort of like the fools who bought the Houston Alexander cut-outs they showed on the PPV where he got ko'd.

I'm thinking it will have to be a decision or tko. Stevenson has a lot of pressure on him for this fight. Especially, with the opening of his own Cobra Kai gym in CA. Looks like he's moved on from Laimon and Las Vegas. I was hoping he would leave Cobra Kai and be a grappling coach at Couture's gym.

There's no doubt that Stevenson is a tough competitior. But he's fighting BJ Penn at his best weight class. He's not called "The Prodigy" because he sucks.

I think that Penn has a lot of hype behind him. Stevenson has held title belts before and has had many more pro fights. And I believe that Stevenson is also in his proper weight class. It should be one hell of a fight! Stevenson is on a 4 fight win streak and he has a 7-0 record as a lightweight. Only been submitted once and only KO'd once from Jens Pulver.

Penn beat Hughes in his prime at 170 and was doing well again til he broke a rib don't forget...He has taken on the best at 170...geez.. people... nevermind bet what ever you want on Joe and I'll match it.

I've never doubted Penn's accomplishments or abilities. I just think that he is going to have his work cut out for him come Saturday. And I before his win over Jens he had lost his last 3 fight. I thought he gassed in his loss to Hughes. I wasn't surprised since he's never been known for his conditioning.

The doctor's report on BJ Penn after his fight with Matt Hughes showed no broken or separated ribs. He gassed.

Guess I saw something different hmm...

"In an interview on his own website after the fight, Penn claimed that he separated his ribs at the end of the second round in an attempt to sweep to Hughes' back.[5] While the initial doctors report did not show any injuries,[6] a later examination found that Penn did fracture his ribs at a costochondral junction and strained the adjacent intercostal and oblique musculatures.[7]"

I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find all kinds of reasons to back up a claim. I'm not buying it. Makes me wonder how many doctors miss a fractured rib?

I'm stopping after this...but...

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...2800&zoneid=13

According to the findings of physician Sameer Nagda, MD, “There is evidence of a fracture of the right tenth costochondral junction with evidence of surrounding soft tissue edema and fluid consistent with moderate grade muscle strains of the intercostals and oblique musculature in the region of fracture.”

According to MedHelp.org, the costochondral junction is, “The point where the ribs articulate with the sternum.” What this essentially means is that during his fight with Hughes, Penn sustained a fracture of the connective tissue between his ribs and the sternum. This injury is considered to be a rib fracture.

but again you can find all sorts of claims to substantiate anything right?

And the Doctor:
Sameer Nagda, MD
Team Orthopedic

Biography:
Dr. Nagda completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He then pursued specialized training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the world-famous Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. Dr. Magda has expertise in complex problems of the shoulder and elbow. He also has advanced training in knee and ankle problems. Dr. Nagda has helped care for many sports teams including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Las Angeles Lakers. He has won numerous national and international awards for his research in the field of shoulder surgery and routinely lectures at the local and national level. Dr. Nagda is currently team physician for the Las Vegas Gladiators, Las Vegas Wranglers Hockey team, and the UNLV Running Rebels.

Sherdog, I'll pass. That like saying that Rampage would have won the fight against Shogun if he hadn't had the cracked ribs. Penn's physique couldn't match his abilities. Only thing that will settle this is another rematch. I still say its the same outcome for Penn. Cro Cop finished his fight after a 1st round cracked rib and even took a few kicks to the groin. Hell, he even continued to throw a few head kicks.
So which one is it? A cracked/fractured rib? A dislocated rib? A severe muscle strain that its classified as a rib fracture?

I'm about ready to get back into it...I have even started stretching 4 days a week (I know I should do more and even more on the days I do stretch...) but I'm trying to go from stiff to slightly less stiff...

I'm too fat to train. Possibly, in a few months I'll take you up on that offer if it still stands.

that shit don't work Nate. The only way to get back in it is to clean the sand out and get in the gym.
