Him failing at the top level is a good reason in his mind to come back. He wants to show people he's not a failure. He has been successful at the collegiate level, and if he can be successful at the NFL level, he will put himself in the books as a great coach. Thats what alot of coaches want.

Leaving USC would be a top 10 dumbass move. The school recruits itself all he has to do is direct his coaches. Not to mention he makes $4 million a year.

Depending on who they would hire to fill his spot, SC could easily lose some of it's appeal. That possibility is enough for me to want him to come to Atlanta.

Yeap, that's what I was thinking....

Go to the NFL, make tons of money...if the Falcons do good, then he's a hero...if they continue to do bad, then go back to college football.

I bet Petrino had the same mindset.

If does it he will turn out just liek Stever Spurrier, Nick Saban, Etc.....
Leave a good thing because of your ego with a high failure rate then return to the college ranks at lesser program. Dumbass move if you ask me.

i think Carroll is looking the possiblity that he will be full control of the personel decisions that he can make for the team as well. i doubt that Pete is money hungry. i think he sees a good shot at turning this team around. Remember this team a few years ago were in the NFC championship against Philly. I hope he comes back to the NFL. what more does he need to prove at USC?

Coaches are always looking for the next big challenge. the top of it all is the NFL. thats what seperates the good coaches from the great coaches. no matter how good of a coach you are in college you will never be on the same stand as a great NFL coach. college coaches are only good in there respected areas. having that been said. if i was Carroll i would stay, but i bet like most coaches he has that ego/determination to be the best at the highest level. Any great or even good NFL coach > Great college coach

Carroll is Elvis in Socal. I'd stay there. He's an asshole if he goes to the ATL.

Also, you guys have to remember. That whole USC/Reggie Bush and other players accepting gifts scandal is due to hit the fan very soon. Who wants to coach a college team that is prohibited from bowl appearances for the next 5 years? Along with a bunch of other sanctions.

Anyone else see the irony in Bush accepting handouts at USC and getting drafted by New Orleans??

Hmm, lets see. I recall that Bill Belichick was a failure as an NFL head coach in Cleveland.

I could be wrong but I think he has had a small amount of success in his 2nd try.
