Texas Indoor Golf in coppell or grapevine?

anyone been before? i have been tossing around the idea of buying a set of clubs and giving golf a try. My neighborhood gets reduced rates at coyote ridge here in carrollton also. a buddy of mine said that this indorr place was pretty cool and only cost like $40 bux and you can rent clubs. i figure before i go buy a bunch of shit this may be a better wat to "test the waters"

god bless.

Go buy some used clubs then practice and play for a few months to "test the waters". If you dont like it you can sell the clubs for what you paid for them and be done.

never been to the indoor place but its sounds appealing, got a link?

Paul,

There's a course in Lewisville called Lake Park that is $15(tax included!) for 18 holes including a cart w/GPS if you go after 2pm. Ryan and I go at least once a week. It's fun. I just bought some on-sale cheap ass clubs from Ducks Sporting Goods. Let me know if you want to go with us sometime!

yup. lake park is good and cheap...a buddy of mine and I used to go out once a week or so on days we didn't have dual credit classes in the afternoon until my parents became members out at trophy club (nothing out of my pocket + all the free food I want> $15 for lakepark....still fun though)

Unless it changed in the last week........ Seriously, after 2pm it's always been $15! You in next time we go? Me, you, Ryan and ELVIS should make a good group!

Fred,

I never go on the weekends, typically Mon-Weds after 2pm. I'm really not any good but it's pretty fun.

YoBro,

I'm not good enough to take bets with someone that's actually good! Depending on how much you spot me I might be in on some action though.

Paul,

Dick's Sporting Goods had some $250 clubs 50% off($124.95) right before Christmas. The driver sucks but the rest are pretty good for someone that is new.

Paul, swing by the house and you can borrow a set of knock offs that I have. You can hit the range or play a few rounds and then go buy some.

I play at the Grapevine indoor often. In fact we played there last weekend and got pretty loose on the drinks. I'm pretty sure that you can rent a set of clubs there and try it out, but I would just go out and play a game on a real course to see if you like golf or not. Take Fred up on his offer. Its always best to play with someone that can recommend the right club for the shot ahead. Indoor golf is just a place to play when its too cold out or raining. And to get drunk. Indoor is nothing like the real thing. It kind of like a hot chick and your hand. They are both fun, but which would you choose?
No question about it...If you play once, you will be hooked.

Yea, I'm in.

I know when me and Ryan went, it was 15$ for 15 holes (when the lake flooded) 3 hours is a quick 18! Especially with a blansett

i wound up buying a pretty nice set of titliest irons for about 90 bucks on ebay. it was 1-9 iron + a sand wedge. it was a high end set from the mid 90s. the way i figure it, im never going to better than the best palyers from the mid 90s so why buy new clubs. turns out i still love my irons 5 years later.

Been playing since I was a kid and my son is a competetive HS player. My advice would be to get 3 lessons with a teaching pro and pay for all the lessons up front. The pro should give you the very basics 1rst (grip/stance at address) and work on up from there. This will get you started off correctly without memorizing bad habits and incorrect form. If you like the guy/gal and feel you are learning from the lessons, get more. Trust me, good swing mechanics makes the game much more enjoyable.

its got it's advantages. it's good for groups. they have happy hour specials. you finish 18 holes fast. you get to choose elite courses you will probably never play in real life.

other than that, yea it's not really golf.

Go ahead and get ya a good used set. I have bought drivers off of E-Bay with no problems at all. You go and get a cheap set, and they will start breaking on ya. Fred and I both use the Cleveland Launchers for our irons. I payed 700 for mine, but you can get a great set used for about 200/250. All you'll need then is a set of woods and a driver. Oh, and a bag. Even still, you should be able to get a packaged deal for 300/350.
