Jason Garrett -- Future with Cowboys

Will he take a head coaching job before next season? I hate to lose another good play caller...

If he doesnt take a head job somewhere Jerry will have to pay him like a head coach to keep him here ....unless he fires Phillips

Phillips will go before he lets him go. He hired Jason first so that should say something. I've never seen an Owner hire a O/C before a Head Coach.

Completely agree, I think he'll end up coaching the Cowboys. Probably in 1-2 seasons.

Ha, tell that to Eric Mangini, Romeo Cremmel, Mike Shanahan, and Peter Carroll

All I know if Parcells needs to leave the Cowboys personal alone and go after other teams that have had sucess....Patriots O/C comes to mind, Colts, Jags, Packers

Huh? Most coaches would rather take the lead as a head coach of a recently poor team than stay on as an assistant for a winning team, I'd bet. It's more money, and you have the chance of turning the team around and being the hero. Maybe I'm wrong, but logic tells me that's how it would be.

I don't know. Phillips is getting a lot of credit, too. His style of coaching, especially following Parcells, has turned out to be a perfect fit for the team. Then again, if they flop in the playoffs, he could take some blame too for maybe not being as disciplinary or motivating as he needed to be when it counted. Works both ways. But if they finish strong, at least making it to the bowl, there is no way in the world they will push Phillips out.

You would be right because many have done that.

That may be the catch. If he honestly feels like he'll have a shot as head coach here, he may stick around. But who says the Boys will stay this good or get better? If they do, who says Phillips will go anywhere? He may pass up certain jobs this year if they aren't lucrative enough, but I'm betting he gets swept away to another team before he makes it to head coach here in Dallas.

I could be wrong of course, but I just don't see someone leaving something so good with so much upside (to eventually become the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys) to a team where there isn't much to work with.
I agree, however, we've seen too many times where money and titles overwhelm common sense. They see it as a promotion and its where they all want to be, the head coach. With all that said, I don't think anyone would offer him him a HC job because of some of the other options out there and with his lack of experience.
