There are fans like that everywhere, of every team in every sport. There's nothing wrong with casual fandom until you try and pass it off like you've been a life-long fan, and even then, there's nothing wrong with it, except for the fact that you're lying about something insignificant as being a fan of a sports team. Go you!
And I can tell you exactly why there wasn't as much participation in Cowboys polls last year - Drew Bledsoe sucked, and Bill Parcells is a douchebag. Nobody could honestly say with any confidence that Dallas would beat anybody they played (yet they beat the undefeated Colts, who would go on to win the Super Bowl).

Seriously, dude? What should they be doing? What's wrong with buying talent? If they have the money, by all means, let them spend it as they see fit.
I don't hate any sports team, but I sure as fuck do love seeing the following lose:
Patriots - just to see what sports writers will write when they pull Tom Brady's dick out of their mouths
Colts - same for Manning, although not as much this season with all the talk of the greatest team evar
Packers - I'm tired of hearing about how Brett Favre looks like the old Brett Favre, the younger Brett Favre, that's 18 and having fun, running down the field with his hands in the air every time he scores. Yes, we get it, four-hundred-and-thirty-something times now, but don't forget 283 times of walking off the field with your head down following a drive-ending interception.
NY Giants - the other, the retarded Manning is funny to watch lose
Redskins/Eagles/NY Giants - a loss for them means Dallas gains a game with a win and doesn't lose any ground with a loss
49ers - 1994, and Hollywood
Steelers - Pretty much just because of Geof and all the "Ben" fans
Yankees - there's nothing better than watching the Yankees with their fat ass payroll flopping, year after year
Red Sox - I'd rather see them win the World Series than a National League team (excluding the Astros), but they're second from last on my list of teams I'd like to see win a World Series
White Sox - Because Ozzie Guillen + Hollywood = LOLz
Any team managed by Lou Piniella - LOLz
Any team infested by Barry Bonds - fuck that guy. Stick another needle in your ass and cry a little more about how nobody respects your records.
I only have a few grudges in baseball because it's depressing enough watching the Rangers lose year after year.
