What Sports Team Do You Hate

... And why?

Division rivals don't count. Just trying to get a feel on why people in the 18-30 age group have so much hate for the Steelers when they weren't even around for the 70s Super Bowls.

I'll start:

I hate the Dallas Cowboys for two very distinctive reasons. One, Jerry Jones. This man will sell his soul to win, and possibly already did in 1995, but I think he paid the quarterback of the Steelers off instead. Two, the fans. The fans here fucking suck something fierce. I could point out specific examples, but I'll just use this message board for reference. The Dallas/Green Bay game had over 200 people vote on who would win. Not nearly as many people voted on similar poles last year. The "fans" take on two different personalities: If they're winning, everyone has been a fan for life, but if they are losing, these so-called fans are nowhere to be found. Maybe some of you Cowboys fans can explain this to me, I know there's a couple true fans on this board.

In addition to the Dallas Cowboys, I also hate the New York Yankees. Even though I don't much care for baseball, seeing the Yankees lose in the post-season, or not even make it puts a huge grin on my face. The fact that the Yankees try to purchase their championships year in and year out just sickens me and there's nothing that the MLB does to try and halt this. Yeah, they have to pay a luxury tax, but what does that matter when you gross millions each game, plus revenue from merchandise?

I'm done bitching.

You have every right to hate the Cowboy's, of course, though I don't really understand why. The Steelers beat the Cowboy's in a couple of Superbowls in the '70's, and were just the better team. I think the Cowboys beat the Steelers in '95 for the very same reason. Over the years (many), I've always hated the rivals of the Cowboys- Redskins, Cardinals, and especially the Eagles. I'm going back a looooong way, now. Sonny Jurgenson was the QB of the 'Skins, and Roger was young. I don't really hate anyone now, except for the Yankees and all they stand for.
I come across as a Packer-hater, but it's not true. One of my all-time heroes is Ray Nitschke. Even as a Cowboy fan, I remember how tough he was and how much he hated the Cowboys. I spent about 3 hours with him in 1986 in Houston, and he was a gentle giant that KNEW I was a Cowboy fan. He signed several things for me, including a pic of he and I. I was sad to hear when he passed a few years ago.
I've rambled enough.

any basketball team, becasue I just don;t like basketball, and there are too many games on tv

The Yankees - I don't care for base ball either, but the Yankees (George) are the ones that seem to keep causing sports salaries to skyrocket. I'm betting even teh non baseball salaries are affected by them, as playeers in teh other sports seem they are worth as much as some guy who stands around in a field for a few hours.

The Eagles and it has nothing to do with rivalries, since I'm not a native Dallas person, and not a big Dallas fan. Buddy Ryan may have helped that hatred years ago, but I can say I've just never cared for that team. It may also be due to the ass hat fans they have. The Redskins almost rank up there with them, in my book. Dallas used to be my least favorite, but I actually started liking them when Jimmy became coach (jerry as owner made it harder to like them, though). I didn't care for Landry. Why those teams - maybe because I did see more of them when I lived in St.Louis in the day of the Cardiac Cards. I was a Bengal fan back then - with Kenny Anderson, then Boomer as the qb.

For hockey it's got to be the Rangers. For the same reason as the Yankees. they just throw money at players, don't seem to get worry about chemistry. I my eyes they were the main players in driving NHL salries up. Plus they kept Pavel Bure from winning the Cup in 94.

My dislike from the Steelers comes from the 70s, early 80s, when I was a wee lad. My grandmother was a Steelers fan, and my cousins would pay me to root for the Cowboys, whom she loathed. They bought me jerseys, etc. I guess you can say I was rasied a Cowboys fan. I love the team, good or bad. I'm a fan. Oh yeah, and there's the LT12NV guy. Fucking Steelers nerd. And now Geof

I HATE TU. With a passion, I hate Austin, and everything it is. Even though my mom and sister live there. I hate the fucking smell of that town, the color orange, cattle, etc now. Partially this has to do with being an Aggie, but it also has to do with my great grandfater, who graduated from A&M in the 1920s. He lived and bled Aggie Maroon. This is why I can't even root for TU when they play any other team. My great grandfather would roll over in his grave if I rooted for TU.

Now the Yankees, I agree with you on this one. I hate the Yankees and the Red Sox's equally. With the ammount of money they spend on their teams, and the talent they've bought, they SHOULD win. That and the fact that their fans are some of the most annoying, and disrespectful fans around. It's funny how many fans they have because of their team purchasing. People who've never been to Boston, or New York are die hard fans. When they play here, there are equally as many fans of the visitors in the stands.

Lastly the Spurs. They are a great team, no doubt, but watching them play, bitch, whine, flop, etc. reminds me why I dislike pro basketball in the first place. They just take it to the extreme. I used to like them back when the Admiral was there, especially since I grew up in south texas, but today's team, I just hate.

There are fans like that everywhere, of every team in every sport. There's nothing wrong with casual fandom until you try and pass it off like you've been a life-long fan, and even then, there's nothing wrong with it, except for the fact that you're lying about something insignificant as being a fan of a sports team. Go you!

And I can tell you exactly why there wasn't as much participation in Cowboys polls last year - Drew Bledsoe sucked, and Bill Parcells is a douchebag. Nobody could honestly say with any confidence that Dallas would beat anybody they played (yet they beat the undefeated Colts, who would go on to win the Super Bowl).

Seriously, dude? What should they be doing? What's wrong with buying talent? If they have the money, by all means, let them spend it as they see fit.

I don't hate any sports team, but I sure as fuck do love seeing the following lose:
Patriots - just to see what sports writers will write when they pull Tom Brady's dick out of their mouths
Colts - same for Manning, although not as much this season with all the talk of the greatest team evar
Packers - I'm tired of hearing about how Brett Favre looks like the old Brett Favre, the younger Brett Favre, that's 18 and having fun, running down the field with his hands in the air every time he scores. Yes, we get it, four-hundred-and-thirty-something times now, but don't forget 283 times of walking off the field with your head down following a drive-ending interception.
NY Giants - the other, the retarded Manning is funny to watch lose
Redskins/Eagles/NY Giants - a loss for them means Dallas gains a game with a win and doesn't lose any ground with a loss
49ers - 1994, and Hollywood
Steelers - Pretty much just because of Geof and all the "Ben" fans

Yankees - there's nothing better than watching the Yankees with their fat ass payroll flopping, year after year
Red Sox - I'd rather see them win the World Series than a National League team (excluding the Astros), but they're second from last on my list of teams I'd like to see win a World Series
White Sox - Because Ozzie Guillen + Hollywood = LOLz
Any team managed by Lou Piniella - LOLz
Any team infested by Barry Bonds - fuck that guy. Stick another needle in your ass and cry a little more about how nobody respects your records.

I only have a few grudges in baseball because it's depressing enough watching the Rangers lose year after year.

You sure seem to dislike a lot of things, Tony. Maybe a therapist could help you.

Maybe you can explain to me why when the Cowboys are having a shitty season, they struggle to sell games and when they do sell them out, it's only because the opposing team fans are purchasing the tickets?

Look at the Raiders, the Niners, the Chiefs, the Redskins, etc... and you'll never see a stadium so divided as the Cowboys stdium gets when they're on a skid.

Sure, fair weather fans are around in every sport, in every city, but it's very dominant here.

That, or all of those teams lose the last 3 or 4 games of the season.

I dunno. I consider myself a true fan, but I've never been to one of their games. If they're in the middle of a shitty season, I'm not going to spend good money and take 5+ hours out of my day to watch a shitty, depressing game; I can watch a shitty, depressing game at home for free, in about half the time. I thought about going to a game this year, but by the time I started looking for tickets, they were crazy expensive, and I'm just a poor boy. One of these days, though.

Well do this then, go to a bar when they play tomorrow, then go to a bar when they have a shitty season. Look at the difference. Go for a drive when they're playing tomorrow and go for a drive when they're having a shitty season - the difference is night and day.

Waiting for Hollywood to chime in about this as living in 3 different cities, I'm sure he has a better perspective than I do, but I don't think I'm to far off in my analyses.

I've never really liked any boston team because of that damn accent! The patriots and the RedSox being the two most hated of them.

Along the lines of baseball I've never liked the yankees and all the fucking yuppie fans they attract.

Basketball I don't really care about....

Hockey...I fucking hate the Devils because I've been a Flyers fan since I started watching hockey, and then when we got the stars back in the 90's I adopted the hate the redwings train as well.

Just think back to the Mavs trip to the finals. How many Mavs super fans appeared then? Where are they all now? I have lived in 4 states now and Texas is by far the worst on the fair weather fans.

The only football team I hate is the Eagles mostly because of the fans and when they cheered Michael Irvin off the field when he was on a strecther. For Baseball its the Yankees but not really the team but all the front runner fans who are Yankee fans but couldnt tell you 4 people from the team. Oh Im not one of those Cowboy fans only while they are winning Ive been a fan through many a 5-11, 6-10 season. Now it could be the Red Sox you know all the people who are die hard Sox fans since 2004 lol, and if you mention Mookie Wilson they have no idea what you are talking about.

I am going to have to go with the New York Rangers, Never have been a fan of Messier and that has carried over. UT mostly because of the fans. Seattle Seahawks mostly because of Shaun Alexander.

The Cowboys! I grew up in Miami and I really hated the "America's Team" crap. Especially when I would see other people wearing Cowboy shirts. Then to make things worse, my Dad took a job transfer that moved us right in the freaking middle of Cowboy land. I put up enough of a fuss (I was 11 yrs old) to get a motorcycle out of the deal though. Anyway, now I had all these Cowboy fans telling me I "HAD" to like the Cowboys now that I live here and that just wasn't gonna happen. It just made me hate them even more. Go Dolphins! <----Sad I know but, they are my team.

I also hate the Yankees for the reasons given above.

Before I moved here I didn't really hate any teams that weren't division rivals, but now after having lived here for almost three years, I can't FUCKING STAND the Cowboys. It has nothing to do with players or the team though. I like Romo and think he will be a great QB, and Marion Barber and Juleous Jones (sp?) are no doubt good RBs.

The thing that makes me hate them is there fucking fans. This year especially, after the first pre-season game you have all these fucking idiots on here talking about how the Boys are going all the way this year. Give me a fucking break it's the pre-season. Then when they get their asses handed to them by the Patiots all I heard out of any of them was excuses on why they lost. I'm not a Pats fan by any means either, but I will admit they are the team to beat this year.

As far as baseball is concerend I couldn't care less. Don't really pay any attention to it, and I pay even less attention to basketball.

Oh yeah.........................GO BRONCOS! (I know we suck this year )

Dallas news reports Tony Romo tried to commit suicide last night!

Fortunately he dropped the gun and the bullet was intercepted!

So if The Cowboys go all the way, or at least make it to the SuperBowl, will you concede that "these fucking idiots" were right? Of course not, so give me a fuck break.

I will admit that they have a good team, but trying to predict that your team is going to the superbowl after seeing one pre-season game is rediculous. It's a lucky guess at best, by no means is it a prediction.

UT mainly because of all the dumbass people that do like them. I don't care who is playing UT I will go for the other team. Even when they played USC for the title, as much as I hate anything to do with California, I was a USC fan for a couple hours.

Red Sox... I love the Yankees and they're my hated enemy.

Texas Longhorns.... I never really cared for them, but when Mac Brown benched Major Applewhite for a QB that was horrible, made me hate them.

I'm still here, I'm still rooting for them. It's been a disappointing couple of seasons.

Geof, expect a lot of excitement around here when the Cowboys do well, nearly everyone remembers the "Jimmy Years" and this is really the only good team that has played since then. Been a long time.

I don't like the Steelers, because their SB win was a farce, IMO. It sucked to see them stumble their way to the top - and win! - when they were clearly the 5th-6th ranked team in the Playoffs. And the only play Roethlisberger ever did worth a shit, tackling that Colts cornerback after he'd intercepted the ball and was taking it to the house.

There's lots of Romo nuthuggers around here, I'm sure (soon) he'll have a disappointing run of games. But right now he IS hot shit, so just get over it.

I'm done bitching.

I'm going to call BS on that and turn it around on the Stealer "fans".

How come the Terrible Towels went away during the 80's and didn't return until a few months before the Superbowl in '95???

Because the "real" stealer fans that waved their terrible towels in the '70's turned their back on the team when they sucked in the '80's. So eff off calling the Cowboy Fans fair weather fans.

and yes, I'm spelling it stealer on purpose.

Oh and fuck division rivals . . . I HATE THE REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate everything, and everyone that is UT. Too many reasons to list on here. Same goes for the Spurs, and the Heat.

As far as other teams, I hate somone every Sunday. I hate NE, I hate Philly, I hate the Redskins, etc.

However, in the last three weeks; I've been a Philly fan, a Baltimore fan, and a Steelers fan for about half the game yesterday. Right now I'm on the "BEAT THE FUCKING PATRIOTS bandwagon. Tis the only bandwagon I've ever been on.

I have to say, I actually like the Patriots just because of the amount of talent they have is unbelievable . . . . . but I also would like to see them lose.

I didn't say they weren't good. Best team ever? Not hardly. However, Bellichick and Kraft are some classless pieces of shit. Cheating ass cock suckers. Misinterpretation of the rules my fucking ass. They should have had to forfeit their season.

No shit . . . one bit of Bellicheat's that isn't getting enough coverage is that Brady is going on some sort of record being on the injury list . . . because he's Probable every week for a strained shoulder.

Plaxico has been the same way since Preseason. I don't think he's practiced yet this season. Seriously.
