That is a huge deal, and he deserves it. I'm NOT a "Techie", but that offense drives defensive coordinators nuts. He'll just get better from here.

He did deserve it. This is great pub for Tech and it is already paying dividends. Julio Jones and Deion Walker are visiting Tech now and they are the top 2 wideout recruits in the nation. What is nice to see is that we already have three four-star recruits on the defensive side of the ball that have already committed.

Crabtree could actually come out after this season and be eligible for the 2008 Draft. The rule states your gradutating high school class has to 3 years removed from school. Crabtree attended some sort of prep school I believe, redshirted, then played this year. Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe he can go this year if he chooses, which I think he probably will.

Incorrect, he went to Dallas Carter and committed to Tech. His true freshman year he had clearinghouse issues and was redshirted. Also we had too much depth at WR last year. He can't go until after the 08 season. Let's hope he stays at Tech...

Not bad for a frosh. Keep in mind he is the same age as Mcfadden. At this point in their lives he is nowhere near DMAC.
Wreck that!

Because he is older than DMAC? I have no problem with Tebow or Crabtree, just breaking the Tech boy's balls a little.

Wow, chronologically by two weeks.

Tebow: Sophomore
McFadden: Junior

Who has more years of eligibility? Which would be what matters in the NCAA.

I was talking about age,not eligibility. Simply pointing out that DMac is younger in age but years ahead in skill. He finished 2nd for the Heisman and won the Doak Walker award last year at 19.

And Tebow has two more years and McFadden has one more year.

Who scored more rushing touchdowns this year, Tebow or McFadden? Tebow owns the first player to pass and rush for at least 20 TDs each in a season. Hell, he scored more touchdowns than the two previous Heisman winners combined!

McFadden was inconsistent at best this year and certainly isn't deserving of the Heisman over Tebow.

I would chalk McFadden's skill over Crabtree's to having those 2 extra years on Crabtree. They also play two different positions that, while requiring similar skill, they use those skills in different aspects of the game. I think Crabtree is one hell of an open field runner and very explosive, much like McFadden, but McFadden gets the ball behind the line of scrimmage where he starts out with a lot of space to make things happen. Being a reciever, Crabtree doesn't get handed the ball uncontested and a lot of the time he doesnt have the space after a catch to break away. Watch some Crabtree highlights when he catches the ball in the open field, the dude can do some amazing things. I really wouldn't be supprised next year to see him lining up in the back field and running it some, coming out on a pattern, or even throwing the ball (he was a QB in H.S.). I think Crabtree has the skill to be every bit as good as McFadden if used the same way.
Again, that is fine.

But if its between a quarterback of the caliber (at least this year) of Tebow and a wide receiver of Crabtree's talent... the quarterback will always win.

Tebow wins this one.

BYBOTIE was making a comparison that McFadden is more skilled athelete than Crabtree and they are the same age. I am simply pointing out that that might not be true due to the extra experience McFadden has over Crabtree and the position he plays. I think Crabtree can be just as dynamic as McFadden if Leach can find a way to get him the ball as often as possible and he has a little bit of space to make people miss, or outrun them...because he can.
Its tough for a receiver to win it. I'm too lazy to search but I think you'd have to go back to the early 90s and Desmond Howard to find the last one and there wasn't much talent at QB and RB then (although I believe that year Marshall Faulk was also up for it along with Bucky Richardson and Ty Detmer. lol)

So, McFadden gets a few brownie points just because he's a RB. Crabtree will have to seasons that can overcome that.

Crabtree has his own song and dance. I am pretty sure that trumps anything Dmac and Teebow have. Checkmate, LOL
