Biggio within three of milestone

Craig Biggio is three hits away from 3,000, after singling off Claudio Vargas in the third inning of the Astros' game with the Brewers Tuesday night at Miller Park.

Biggio cannot predict when he'll get the big hit, but if past history is a factor, Friday may be the day. After all, June 29 appears to be a rather significant date in Biggio's career. He logged his first big-league hit on June 29, 1988, and in 2005, he set the modern day Major League record with his 282nd hit by pitch.

Prepare for SVTvenom's wrath with that statement. He has the uncanny ability to not be able to see Lofton's current or past stats.

Yep, you've gotta respect a guy that turns an easy comebacker to the pitcher into a close play because he's running full speed.

On that note, let it be known that Alfonso Soriano is a douchebag.

He did that against Texas last week - he hit a fairly solid three hop ground ball back to (I believe) Millwood, Millwood fielded it cleanly, trotted a few steps towards first, and tossed it to first; Biggio was only out by a step. I was impressed that anybody would do that, let alone a guy that's been around for as long as he has and that has nothing left to prove (and could use pretty much any excuse he wanted for not running it out). If I remember correctly, he also stretched a single into a double in the same series, sprinting out of the batter's box and never slowing down until he dove head first into second.

Biggio obviously has a lot of ability, but what has made him a great player is his desire and work ethic much more than his ability. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of players that have come and gone with way more ability, but very few players play with the heart that Biggio does. I bet out of his last 50 hits, 20 of them are probably from hustling out ground balls and forcing the infielders to make good plays. You never know what will happen if you force the issue!

4 hits tonight for Biggio, so far: that's 3,000 for his career.

That's what I was telling Buck a while back. But then Buck had to get all pissy with me so I had him canned too.

Seeing as it was spelling, and not Grammar, you fail again.
