Are the Texans just stupid....

...they waived David Carr and Domanick Williams. Granted Williams is no loss...but why just wave Carr without trying to trade him for a draft pick or another player perhaps. He was not the reason the Texans have sucked since joining the NFL. it would be hard for Peyton Manning or any other QB to win with the O-line and other players that the Texans have had.

The Texans passed on Reggie Bush and Vince Young to draft WHO #1? Mario something I think....and now they do a semi good move in trading for Schuab but turn around and do something mind boggling as waiving Carr without trying to package him in a deal with another team.

Carr was 9th in the NFL in passing completions...1st in completion percentage, 3 pts ahead of Romo and Peyton Manning...18th in pass yds....tied for 11th in INT, only 2 more than P. Manning....15th in QB rating.

even though he was 25th in the league for sacks and sack yds (41 sacks for 240 yds) his sack yds per sack avg was 8th best...meaning he lost fewer yds per sack than all but 7 other QBs in the NFL. Even P. Manning avg one yard more per sack than Carr.

Seemed to me like he did a decent job considering some of the numbers...

Hmmmm, this makes it interesting for Oakland.

Is J. Russell > D. Carr and C. Johnson?

They waived him because nobody was willling to trade for him due to the fact that they were total idiots for signing him to that extention which would have paid him $8 million a season for the next two seasons. Now that he's on waivers, teams can openly negotiate with him and get him at a lower, more reasonable price.

Honestly, this is the smartest thing this franchise has done since it's inception. David Carr was a BUST, plain and simple. Houston needed to cut its losses and move on, which they FINALLY did.

Too bad this move is about a year too late because they should have done this last year and drafted Vince Young. They'd be in a much better position right now both as a team and as an organization from a fan/ticket standpoint.

Atlanta made out like GANGBUSTERS on this trade for Schaub - getting Houston's picks in the 1st/2nd round this year for their picks, as well as their '08 2nd round picks.

wow, just wow. david carr is a good qb who played for a shitty team. I hope he gets a chance to play with some real talent, it would be nice to see the bears get him, though I hate the bears with the team they have he might get them a title or two.

Carr was not a bust. The O-Line is the bust.

The Texans have had shitty management since they started. Houston fucked up when they sold out the Oilers, IMO.

I dont think Carr is a bad QB. He just cant take on as much on his own as other Qb's. He needs a better supporting cast around him to be a better qb. Hell Schaub isnt proven at all at a NFL level. If he has a bad year what are they going to say this time? Carr will end up somewhere else, and will do better than he did with Houston.

The O-Line can only be "bad" for so many years in a row. At some point, Carr has to take some of the blame. I think he's a decent QB and will easily resurface somewhere. Carr has the physical tools, he just lacks awareness & pocket presence.

If anything he doesn't lack that. You spend your first 2 years of your career trying to stand in a pocket and not running from guys 2 times bigger then you with the same 40 yd. times as you. Geesh....he is definitely gun shy. That line sucks though. Its not like he held on to the ball too long and then made bad decisions. HE was under fire 80% of the pass plays.

The right club can make/break a player. Carr should do just fine in a system that agrees with him. Be prepared to see a much better Carr next season. (unless the Raiders get him)

Carr will definately get picked up and play for a team that'll go further than Houston ever will. Great job with the Texans for location the source of their problem. They won't get a better QB for now (at least without paying out of their ass even more than they already have).

They should have traded him for something. Or would it have cost them?

Good for Carr, bone head move by Houston as they continue to drop the ball on players.

David Carr is not a good QB. He's average at best. He played at Fresno St. against watered down competition and never was able to handle the pressure of being an NFL starter.

I clearly understand that Houston has had one of the worst O-Lines in the NFL, but at some point that has to come back to the QB and his decision making/play-making abilities. He's what Bledsoe is right now, stone-footed and washed up.

He had 5 years to show progression and failed to do so. Thats a LONG time to be a starter and lose that many games. Anywhere else and he would have gotten yanked about 2 years ago.

Someone will more than likely pick him up, but I highly doubt he starts again unless someone gets injured.

They tried, but nobody would pick up his salary so they had to cut him as he was pretty much 'dead weight' at that point in time.
