Yeah that's bullshit right there, he should have never been allowed to get into the NFL HOF just because of his off field problems. Pete Rose should be allowed to be in baseballs HOA and use the old "well if this clown can get in" ...'H'

while I agree, gambling is seen as a huge conflict of interest and totally effects the "integrity" of the game... don't get me wrong, you could argue that drug use, steroid use, etc. could also, but it's the cardinal sin in baseball.

I'm a huge Pete Rose fan, and I'd love to see him in the HoF, but I don't think it'll ever happen

Rose should be in the HOF. Not so sure about Irvin, due to his off the field antics.

He's a fucking loud mouth asshole.

Why do we care what atheletes do off the field? Babe Ruth was a drunk womanizer ass....but he's the greatest player of all time...

They should be in the HOF for what they do on the field. Period end of story.

For once, I agree with the man.

I'd just like to know the non-BS reason why Irvin got fired because Reynolds got fired for some shadey crap too.

Because sadly, kids look up to athletes as hero's if you play sports. Off the field antics get them in trouble. They look bad and set bad examples. Kids dont know any better. They think the behavior is normal. Athlete plays great game, gets money, gets drugs and parties. Whats the kid going to want to do?

Have the parents of said kid teach him some fucking morals and realisitic dreams.

Reality 99.9% of us will never be pro atheletes...We can't do anything we want just by pursuing our dreams. The world is not that kind, there are people with genetic gifts, and many more of us with out.

I know what you're saying and I agree, Im just saying they are kids and its a reality. I know I had my sports heroes as a kid and many other kids did and still do. Its part of being a kid and having a perception of fantasy.

And part of growing up is realizing the real world is harsh and you can't live in fantasy and everything is not PC like parents try to keep it for the kids. When kids realize how harsh the world is and that we have turned them into sissified pansies by babying them with not keeping score in Lil Leauge games so there are no winners or losers, just people who played a game...they fail to function to an extent.

Survival of the fittest and some kids should be killed off I guess lol.

No just sick of dumbass people pussifying there kids til they are 18 then they can't function and contribute anything to society but live off others because society allows them to. There was a quote i read somewhere....

"95% of people are able to survive because society allows them to by providing a means for them to by giving them food, shelter, and a means to live and could not function without this being given to them. The 5% walk around in utter fucking amazement that the other 95% still exist."

You brought up a point about kids looking up to pro atheletes. It's not the athelete's fault if the parents don't properly raise their own kids.

Chewing tobacco was big in Major League Baseball when I was a little kid playing baseball. I never had any because my dad would beat my ass with a 2x4 if I did.

Well, that, and I watched The Sandlot frequently while growing up.

From the ESPN statement, it doesn't sound like he was fired.

Remember when that baseball guy (for the love of me, I'm having a brain fart and can't think of his name) was fired from ESPN, the statement was alot different.

Only time we didn't keep scores for the girls teams was when they were in the 3-4 year age group. Since 5, we've kept score and had standings.

I want my girls to be competitors on and off the court/playing field. I use sports to teach them competition. This way they will grow up realizing life is competition.

I've actually changed my oldest daughters softball team 3 years ago because the coach he didn't care about the score.

I don't think the "pussification" of our youth is necessarily tied to sports. I see alot of 11 year old boys (my oldest daughter is now 11) who still cry when their mommies leave them off somewhere and won't go on field trips at school unless mommy is one of the chaperons. I think it is definetly just a general pussification of society in general.

My 401K is now a 400K (was 301K)

Now it's starting to sound more like neither side wanted him to come back.

They didn't fire him . . . his contract had ended and he was not resigned.

I think it had to do with him getting in trouble "again" while he was still with ESPN last year, remember they suspeded him for a few shows or something like that. FUCK Michael Irvin, he got what he deserved and he isn't even a good broadcaster, he is un-educated too, much like all Miami "U" players ...'H'

Harold Reynolds.

ESPN also gave the standard "is no longer with the network" statement when they terminated him. His termination stemmed from sexual harrasment charges. Apparently it wasn't the first time because they said it had followed a pattern several occurances.
