I'll be the first to admit the Spurs will more than likely lose in the 1st round of the playoffs. This team is just pathetic. Maybe Spurs fans are spoiled, but even though they have the 3rd best record in the league, they're playing .500 ball right now. Rant on.
1. They have no fucking drive anymore. No hustle. No heart. They got beat in Utah by a bunch of nobodies because those nobodies out-hustled them. Those nobodies were on the floor going for loose balls while the Spurs stood around and watched.
2. This team gives up WAY too many offensive rebounds. It's like everyone fucking stands around expecting Tim to get every board. Omberto is playing nothing like he was at the begining of the year and should be religated to towel waving duty. Fransico Elson is the second coming of Nazi Mohammed without the offensive skills (think about that for a second). This team needs help in the paint and the spares that supposedly play center on this team aren't doing it. Just get an f'n board every once in a while.
3. Where's the O? When Tim Duncan is on the bench, the offense looks slightly better than most WNBA squads. You can't dump it down low, you can't give it to Bruce, Beno, Horry, or Finley. Manu and Tony basically have to play 2-man while the sun shines on Brent Berry's ass once a game. They need someone that can come off the bench and light a fire under some asses.
4. They're the oldest team in the league. The bench can rival that of most corporate softball teams. For the love of God, stop drafting Euros and get some brotha that has some game. I don't want a 31 year old shooting guard from Lithuania, I want a 21 year old with a criminal record from Chicago. I want someone that can actually hustle AND provide some spark off the bench. The Suns are loaded with these types and we're relying on Michael f'n Finley.
I can't think of one playoff caliber team I'd see the Spurs beating in a 7-game series. They obviously can't beat Dallas, Phoenix, Utah, or Houston. They barely beat the Lakers. The new Nuggets would probably run all over them. The problem is the Spurs front office is too scared to make a move. If it takes getting rid of Ginobili, then do it!
I need a beer.
