I didn't read the article but have heard about it. I don't see this as the government being dumb. It is a 12billion dollar business (if i remember correctly) and none of it is taxable because it is being handled off shore. Makes sense to me to stop it.

No, they're not Puritanical, they're sellouts.

Follow the money. Someone paid them for this. You really think they give a shit about what you do online? Only if it's cutting into their checks...

So who do you think is paying them?

My guess would be the Southern Baptists. They don't only use their money to build monstrosities on Park Rd.

You think Harrah's or the "real physical" casino's paid the politicians? Don't think they didn't have their hands in Online gaming.

This is all stupid. It all could be taxable and the government would flurish (I'm talking about gambling in general), but it's the Puritanical thinking of this country that won't allow it.

casinos have online gambling, but you must be a resident to use it.

Of course legalized gambling establishments greased the wheels on this one. It cuts in their business.

As far as online gambling, they should just regulate it, like everything else.

there's a very easy way around this. Don't use your bank credit cards to directly transfer money to gambling sites. Use firepay, neteller, etc...

BOFA hasn't allowed me to directly transfer money to gambling sites ever.

god, your dumb.

it was the casinos that PUSHED this legislation as the majority of them had to sit and watch revenue filter to online casinos and away from them.

and, to say that the U.S. is puritanical is just rediculous.

either way it sucks.

not yet, but all I'm pretty sure he will. The push from legalized gambling is heavy.

This whole damn things was campaigned by the President, so you're saying that casino's contribute to a Texan President? Hell no. He's the most "Holier than God" man in office.

So don't say it's not the puritanical system that just months ago had the online porn industry by the balls until they found a way to lube up and get away from the system. All Pun Intended.

I agree with Matt, online casino's will find a way to get money transfered, there's always a way.

I just opened my Neteller account last week too. I cancelled it today and asked for a payment for the small deposit I made when I opened the account.

They were pretty cool and reversed all fees without me even asking for credit. Actually I was prepared to paid a small transfer fee, shit, it wasn’t their fault.
