Ok, but I still don't get it. I always figured that maybe it was because the only two professional football teams were in Dallas and Houston, and there was nothing in West Texas except for high school and UTEP and TT...

That sounds like a good reason for alot of it. I don't get it much either. In fact, it bores me. Show me the NFL.

The problem is that a good 95% of them suck.

High school cheerleaders > high school football

The kids might be full of energy, but a very large majority of them suck. I've seen my share of good games, but most of them were while I was still in high school or when my cousin was playing for his high school.

Well, here's one HS football game I would watch:

Quote:
DELBARTON, W.Va. -- Paul McCoy rushed for an apparent national high school-record 658 yards and scored 10 touchdowns Friday.

McCoy, who had 29 carries in Matewan's 64-0 win over Burch, ran for 477 yards just on his touchdown runs, which covered 69, 1, 52, 56, 52, 20, 31, 84, 87 and 25 yards. He also had a 77-yard TD run called back by penalty.

The National Federation of State High School Associations lists the national record as 619 yards, set by Ronney Jenkins of Oxnard, Calif., in 1995. McCoy's yardage will have to be verified before it becomes official.

McCoy's 10 touchdowns would tie him with two others for the second most nationally. The record is 12 set by Ken Pearson of Hugo, Colo., in 1930.

McCoy, who is averaging 364 yards per game, has 1,820 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns this season.

LOLz! They missed 6 extra points! Unless they tried to pass on a few 2-point conversions.

Looking foward to Northwest-Carroll. My son played at Carroll and my daughter goes to Northwest. IF NWHS makes the playoffs they would be the the Div I rep so that means Carroll would be in Div II and play Cedar Hill in the second round. That will be the game of the year in the metroplex...

I guess. High school football just never excited me, even when I was in high school. It is kind of cool, what you said, though. My friend, Richie Incognito, who I went to high school with, is the starting center for the St Louis Rams. It still doesn't make me like high school football. I realilze to each is own...

Dunno what has happened to Lake Highlands. They were among the best teams in the state back in my playing days. But just this weekend, Plano East(where I played) KILLED them 37-0 making Lake Highlands 0-4 for the season.
