NHL Awards

Vezina Trophy Winner- Mikka Kiprusof
Hart Trophy Winner- Joe Thornton
Norris Trophy Winner- Niklas Lidstrom
Calder Trophy Winner- Alexander Ovechkin
Lady Byng Trophy Winner- Pavel Datsyuk
Selke Trophy Winner- Rod Brind'amour
Adams Trophy Winner- Lindy Ruff
Pearson Trophy Winner- Jaromir Jagr

All are deserving but Thornton winning the Hart Trophy suprised me as I thought Jagr would get it. It is good to see Ovechkin get the Calder and not Crosby, sucks for Zubov in losing out on the Norris.

Thornton definately deserved it. Look at SJ before he got there and then look at what he did to that team and the emergence of Cheechoo.

Other than one other year he hasnt deserved it, and that year was 93-94 when he was in new york and lead the team in points. I love Zubie but there are alot out there that outshine him night in and night out.

That is where I think you are wrong. Night in and Night out he is one of the calmest steadiest D-men. The style of play Zubov plays is very conservative. He isn't expected to jump into the play often at all. This was especially true under Hitchcock. If you look at percentage of goals in which Zubov is involved v. Lidstrom; as well as looking at PP% with Zubov on the point v. anyone else and those percentages I think you'd find Zubov is just as valuable to his team.

Now I also feel that defenders like Jason Smith/Aaron Miller/Ed Jovanovski/Wade Redden who are defensive defensemen will never have a chance and that is a shame.

Ryan, Wade Redden is not a defensive defenseman....he had 50 pts last year...and he'll win the Norris Trophy eventually.

He plays with Chara...and I guess I didnt realize he had that many points. Maybe I should have someone like Robyn Regher instead, I was just trying to find #1 pair defensmen that aren't the #1 gunners on the PP.
