Very weird series because nobody really thought all those top teams would be gone/not in the Finals. I'll say 'Canes in 6 games.

Oil in 4!

Realisticly - I think it'll go to 7, I'm just hoping the Oilers can pull it out.

First one, I'm chaulking up as a 'Canes victory due to home ice, and all of the time off Edmonton has had.

I really didn't watch the western playoffs very much, so I didn't see edmonton except for a few games of the san jose series. However since they took down anaheim who was lookin awsome before edmonton I will call them. On top of that edmonton has been around for years but hasn't won a cup so it would be cool to see em get one.

Edmonton has won a couple of Cups, the last one in 90. I would like to see Peca, Pronger, Roloson and a couple of others win one, but at the same time I would like to see Carolina win it all because the organization has never won one.

Don't forget that badass goalie named Grant Fuhr oh and what about Mr. Jari Kurri?

4 Cups won with those Gretzky: 84, 85, 87, 88.

Gretzky left in 89 and Messier, Fuhr, and Kurri left after winning their last cup in 90.

Haven't been to the Finals since then though.

let me clarify, yes they have won cups before. What i meant was they have been in the run for one, but always got knocked out. Back when they were goin head to head w/ the stars for a few years in a row and so on and so forth. So recently they haven't won one, which is what i meant.

If I could spring the money, I'd head up there for a couple of weeks and party down with ya bro.

I was hoping to head up to Canada this Summer, but it looks like that's going to have to wait until next year as shit keeps interfering. I'm going to do the full tour - from BC, to AB, to ON, and ending up in NS... possibly staying there.

Tied up now at 4. Roloson just left the ice injured. Hopefully it's not too severe.

Ty Conklin allowed the game-winning goal into the net for Carolina.

5 - 4 Carolina leads series now 1 - 0.

Thanks, Ty!

i wasnt able to watch it but sounds like it was a great game, hopefully Roloson is back on the ice next game as I dont wan to hear excuses from anyone on why the Oil were sent packing.

Edit: Actually it says Roloson is done for the series, huge loss that really I think is going to be too much to overcome as he is one of the main reasons that Edmonton made it. It sucks to see someone go down like that after doing so much to carry their team to the finals.

Ward was a fuckin' animal in goal in the 3rd, absolutely freakin awesome. It sucks about Roli going out, it'd be a shame to have the series so altered because of it. Hopefully Conklin can step up and make it a series. I'll watch

Has there been any diagnosis for Roli yet? Even if he comes back, I doubt he'll be ready to play, he looked pretty hurt.

No true diagnosis yet... knee injury is the only thing I have heard.

Maybe an ACL or MCL, I don't know.

I think it has a chance to still be a good series if conklin just forgets what happened at the end of game 1 and step up to play from now on. The oilers still have a good team without roli but it deffinatly does suck for them.

Dude, the Goalie is the backbone of the team.

This is like taking Roethlisberger out and putting in Maddox or Batch and expecting them to win a championship. Or pulling out Manning and putting in Sorgi. I would relate this to a local team like the Cowboys, but all of their Quarterbacks suck, so it's irrelavant.

And for good reason too.

The fact the Carolina would have been eliminated by the Sabres had they not had problems with injuries, on top of Roloson's injury would definitely cast a shadow of doubt of the legitimacy of this team, if they wind up winning it.

I dont think it will. Every team has to deal with injuries. Carolina is missing a player that got them where they are thru out the regular season in Cole. A lot of the Buffalo series was dominated by Carolina, especially the first 3 games if I remember correctly, but Buffalo pulled out 2 wins. For a short period Conklin and Markkenen are good goalies, but they can not carry a team for extended periods of time, as Roloson did. I still think it will be a long series but Carolina will end up on top in 6.

Still 1-0 after the first, Markkanen is looking good so far as the only goal was a deflection off Bergerion's ankle. Oilers start the period on the PP.

End of the second and its 3-0 Carolina. Stillman scored with 2.4 seconds left and Kaberle had a PP goal earlier in the period. Markkanen still looks good and has made some huge saves but Ward is putting up a wall.

Of course, if Edmonton could somehow come back and pull this off now, I'm sure it'd rank as the greatest upset in history.
