Check out this stat.

Dirk only hit one three-pointer during the whole Mavs/Spurs series.

I couldn't believe it, but looked it up and it's true. Does that mean he's growing as a player and charging the paint, or he can't hit them in his old age? Discuss.

i know a couple of times he should have taken a 3 pointer last night, and he pulled it down, to only miss a 17 footer... i think he just doesnt have the confidence in the 3 right now...

One of the major turnarounds the Mavs have made. There is absolutely no reason for a big 7 footer to hang around the arc. Dirk has some balls now and will drive the lane and pick up fouls. He's a nightmare matchup cause he's got an amazing FT %

He was being double teamed and told to pass or get a foul. I dunno, it's just what I heard last night. I wasn't there or anything. He is still an awesome player!!!!!

no need for the three when you can get a layup +1....still equals 3.........i think avery has taken the 3 ball out of dirks hands .....and lets all the other guys shoot it....one thing i will bet is that his 3 pt shot attempts go up against the suns......

Guys, let's not forget who won the 3 point shooting competition this year at the All Star games in Houston. Dirk isn't shooting as many 3's because he can easily get to the hoop and wreck all kinds of problems with opponents defense. Look at game 3 were Dirk went 21-24 on FT's. I'm almost certain I read somewhere that Avery wanted Dirk taken his game inside to get some fouls going on the Spurs team.

He can still hit them. He went 8-19(42%) in the series against the Grizz...taking 10 attempts in one of the games. And as previously mentioned, I'm sure he'll take more attempts against Phoenix. It'll be too easy to be lured into the old style of play against them...and for moments, I'm sure he'll revert to old form. Hopefully, he'll mostly go to the basket though and leave the 3s to Terry and Van Horn (did I just say that ).

Don't forget to mention Stack as he's a streak 3 point shooter to.

I think Avery has convinced him that he should try and get closer to the basket, especially when they are playing small.. The worst thing about the bigger guy taking the three is thats one less big guy inside to get an offensive rebound.

I dont think he's afraid of shooting them, just would rather get in tighter and possibly draw a foul.
I would like to see him take it to the rack against the Suns. They really have nobody to stop that. Thomas can try and I hope he does... Marion too. They will just get in foul trouble and Dirk will get the & 1 usually anyway.

I DO wish he would get back to at least taking a few 3's during the course of the game.. if nothing else, just to make them respect it, and get them spread out. It might make it easier to run the rest of the offense.
