Barbaro breaks leg at the Preakness Steaks

not sure if anyone watches horse racing but heavy favorite and kentucky derby winner Barbaro broke his leg at the preakness today.

it's pretty serious and he will require surgery. they may be able to save his life.

aside from that, i almost landed a trifecta that would have paid 4 thousand dollars.

Yeah, I watched it today. Before they even opened the gates he busted through them. It takes alot of force to open those up because they use magnets to keep them closed. He just mis-stepped and messed up his leg. Its kind of sad to see things like that happen because it usually means the horse will have to be killed. Hopefully that won't happen here.

I don't think they shoot or put down horse's anymore like they use too , especially a stud that will still demand high fees. Now if it was a pasture horse then the cost vs reward is not good. Infection is the real concern in this like any surgery.

yea, hopefully they wont have to put him down.

I'm so pissed that Brother Derrick dropped off like a bitch after the final turn. He was the second favorite and the favorite at the derby and he just dropped off coming to the finish line giving the show position to horse #3 (which i didnt have in my trifecta box).

Like they said on the broadcast, if there is any bloodflow issues to the leg they may have to put him down.

Yeah , I seen that. Great job by Edgar Prado by pulling up and preventing further injuries. I thought Barbaro hurt himself with that false start he had. Damnit I wanted to see a triple crown winner ! He just had to win this race and the Belmont next.
