Damn...hope he gets better, and loses some weight for his own good. He was the man with the Twins.

I've never liked baseball much, but have always like Kirby. It's hard not to like/respect a blue collar guy like him.

it sucks all around, i remember when i was young (i grew up in the twin cities area) and you could be walking in downtown and see him and he was more than willing to talk as long as you wanted and was always active in the community. It is hard to find better guys, let alone sports stars. RIP

I can't believe it. The guy was an awesome ball player. I read in the DMN that he was quoted in 2001 at the Baseball Hall of Fame (when he was inducted) as saying that all the men in his family have died in their 40's and he didn't expect to live longer than that.

It would truely be a loss to Minnesota, with him being one of the 2 black people there.

GREAT! guy ...he was my baseball idol growing up ..I literaly own every Kirby card ever made ......

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

That sucks. RIP Kirby, you're the man. IMO he's up there with Ozzie Smith, Emmitt Smith, David Robinson, Nolan Ryan, Wayne Gretzky and company as one of the greatest men who was a Pro athlete. Great athletes, but even moreso, great men while doing it.
