Teixeira just signed for two more with the Rangers!

Just heard that he got $15.4mil (6mil first year and 9.4 second year). Not too shabby, but I thought he could have gotten more.

That's cheap for a player of his caliber. Personally I'd rather see him locked in for 5 years but 2 is better than none!

Ok, so he hits 2 HR's but then our pitching staff gives up 4 HR's. The Rangers need pitching, PERIOD!

They're working on the pitching... at least they say they are

I'm still trying to find their logic in what they're doing with trades and whatnot.

I agree and me too. He's about 90% of Albert Pujols whose last contract was for 7yrs and I think $105 mil (15 mil a year). Tex has similar stats except for batting average. Pujols was batting .330 or so last year while Tex was down around .300 and his career BA is 50 points higher than Tex. If Tex could get his average up, I have no doubt his stats would surpass Pujols.

I don't doubt that he'll get better and better every year. His average was up last year from the year before. I just wish they would have locked him in for longer. After those 2 years, Scott Boras will probably be pushing for him to go to the Yankees for tons of money.

Maybe thats why they only signed him to a two year deal instead of longer cause they want to spend money on pitching

Tex is a Gold Glover, Pujols isn't. That right there helps out in the pitching department. Ian Kinsler is a damned good shortstop or second basemen plus his offense was great in the minors. Mike Young and Blalock are good infielders and hopefully Brad Wilkerson pans out. Of course Mench has a cannon for an arm and so does Matthews. The pitching will be better this year and they have some good talent in the minors.

I'm optimistic but then again I am every season. If they can sign one more good power hitting outfielder (Carlos Lee???) or trade for someone they have a chance!

It seems like everyone still thinks our pitching sucks as bad as last year? Has everyone been paying attention to the moves? Sure we don't have a total ace lineup but they made a damn good move getting Kevin Millwood. I hope some of the prospects come up to the big leagues and come through...and although I don't think it will happen...Roger Clemens is still possible. He definitely made it sound like he didn't wanna go back to Houston because he can't get any offensive support to win games (when they count). Bah...who am I kidding...he'll just end up on the Yankees or the Red Sox.

What? Please... Milwood and Chris Young were just about even as far as numbers. One exception; Young played in a hitter's park. I see Milwood's ERA going up considerably this year.

ur right mark is a gold glover and in baseball, defense is what wins game..... I believe wilkerson is gonna fit in at center, i love keven "shrek" mench but i wouldn't say he has a "cannon" for an arm matthews yeah but mench ummm no...

And why would u want to sign another power hitter when u have

1) Mench
2)Tex
3)Hank
4)Barajas
maybe even 5 in wilkerson, then u have one of the best, if not the best pure hitter in Michael young, i say spend that money u would spend on a good hitter and pick up one more quality starter, ora relief pitcher.... Just my .02

Hank has some power, he had 32 dingers his second year in the league. Obviously Tex is the cleanup guy though. Don't discount Dellucci either, he hit 29 homers and missed a bunch of games.

Hicks will try very hard for Clemens this year. I don't see him shelling out $20,000,000 again though for one player. I mean sure Clemens is a phenomenal pitcher and it's a guaranteed sell out every time he takes the mound but the White Sox spent under $30,000,000 on their ENTIRE rotation last year. They won the world series in 4 games, Texas watched it on TV was 4 games under .500 last year.
