Since USC was crowned "The greatest team ever".....

...and Texas beat them, is the 2005 Texas team now the "Greatest team ever"?

Is it? I think tOSU, Texas, and USC were all better than said team. Besides, the media said USC was "the greatest," so it MUST BE SO!!!!!!!

Well, the 2000 OU team blew out a ranked 2000 Texas team, and the 2005 Texas team barely beat the unranked 2005 OU team, so 2000 OU > 2005 Texas.

Good call. Now, to seriously answer your original question: I don't really know if USC, even if they would've beaten Texas, would've deserved the title of Greatest Team Ever. But I do know that Texas was better than them, and they were one of the greatest teams ever, so that puts Texas up there as one of the greatest teams ever (and of course Texas is higher in the list). But that's just my opinion.

If I had a Top 5, they'd both be there...along with maybe the 85 Sooners (I think) and one of the late 80s JJ-led Thug U teams........

And the 2003 Baylor Bears.

What about the '84 Fighting Irish team that won the National Championship against Boston College when Deion Sanders intercepted Doug Flutie's pass in Notre Dame's endzone and ran it back 106 yards for a touchdown?

I refuse to put any ND teams into my greatest ever list, because they already have NBCs help propping them up...no need for me to get involved.....

Let's not forget that in 2000 OU beat 6 ranked teams and 4 teams in the top 8. Neb was #1, K-State #2, and Florida State #3 and then K-State again at #8 in the Big 12 Championship game.

Yea, but you base it on the final rankings. Where did those teams end up?

Texas beat the #2, #4, #22, and I'm not sure where Tech ended up, or if they did.

And I THINK tOSU was #4.........no coffee today, so I'm not sure.

Besides, USC was the greatest team ever........

uh, no ? this was the team that nobody came within 14 points of the entire season and won the championship 62-14 over florida. i don't think any list of greatest teams can exclude them.

They won. Great, now give it a rest. I am really tired of you starting all of these threads that are all about the same thing "Texas is great."

If they can win two National Titles in a row or win over 30 straight games I'd agree. Hell I'd say if they can beat OU for the next four years I'd say that but not right now. They are the best in the country until September at least but not the Greatest team ever.

OU has had some great teams, but so has UT. USC had a great run and it may be over, one loss will not do it though. What about the Nebraska Corn huskers?

They brutalized the Hurricanes in the Orange Bowl. MIAMI sucks!

I don't think the NCAA will allow the 2005 team to play OU for the next four years.

Are you trying to imply that the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 UT teams are different teams?

'96 texas team beat nebraska with Scott Frost as there qb. Didn't nebraska win the title in '97 also?? so they could've won 3 straight if it wasn't for those damn pesky longhorn kids i always did like james brown even though he wasn't the smartest of qb's. and yes, james brown did spark a fire with those comments to corso LOL
