Josh Beckett coming to the Rangers?

Sounds like the Rangers might have pulled their heads out of their asses to get some REAL pitching:

There is no guarantee that we coudl resign Beckett though either. That would have to be ironed out before I would trade Blaylock. He is one of our core players and a team leader, also one of Michael Young's closest friends. Our depth is at FIRST BASE Adrian Gonzalez and the Sinisi kid from Rice both have plenty of time to wait behind Teixeria. Third basemen are tough to develop and Mike Lowell is no where the offensive (#2-5 hitter) or defensive (gold glove consideration) player that Hank is. Blaylock is a guy you build around. Corner outfielders, Danks/Diamond, 1st base - THAT is what the Rangers need to be dealing.

I agree 100%. Beckett is under contract for the next two years. I'd like the see the Marlins sign him to a 4-5 yr deal and then do the trade. I'd hate to trade Hank for a very strong pitcher who has had a lot of injury problems early in his career. It would help if he were more durable.

Mike Lowell, a three-time All-Star from 2002 to 2004, struggled offensively last season, batting .236 in 150 games last season with a career-low eight home runs. The 2005 Gold Glove Award winner had averaged 28 home runs during his All-Star seasons.

For $200 Million, you could get Nolan Ryan out of retirement, but that doesn't mean he will produce.

LOL. You don't know shit about any sport other than NASCAR. You are a blatant idiot who doesn't know shit about hockey, but drops a few names to make people think you do. Same thing with baseball. You don't have a clue, and you've yet to make an intelligent argument in regards to any sport on this board yet. Keep trying jackass, i'm leaps and bounds ahead of you. You know more than me, LMFAO!!!!!!!

Problem with Texas luring free agent pitchers is...they don't want to come here. We have to overpay (see: Park, Chan Ho) to get them here. The Rangers need groundball inducing pitchers who are preferrably lefties to succeed in this park. Kris Benson is a spare and I'm glad the Mets overpaid HEAVILY for him and his outspoken ugly assed wife. We are trading for "talent", although injury prone and never pitched in the AL before (see: Park, Chan Ho), because the player then has no choice. Resigning Beckett is going to be tough after his 2 arbitration years are over. He isn't the salary cap bargain he looks like, not to mention we have to take on a salary of an over the hill hitter who has some defensive skills.

Best case scenerio, Lowell produces 2/3s of the stats, Blaylock does and wins a Gold Glove at 3rd and Beckett has a sub 4.00ERA, 14 wins, and only 1 DL stint for "elbow tendonits".

Told you the Red Sox were going to pick him up... the Marlins needed more a SS than anything... I bet they couldn't get a valuable trade for Hank so that's why they turned Texas down....

Kinda sounds like what happened to the Mavs in the Shaq trade is what happened to the Rangers. The Mavs/Rangers were just used as leverage and were just given false hopes.

HAHA, the Rangers had nothing else to offer. It's not that they didn't WANT Beckett, they couldn't get him. Every team short of the White Sox didn't want to win the World Series? You must be happy with 459.1Hp and 368.5Tq huh? What do you make a year? Guess you're happy with that too right? Some people have no ambition and want to be Ford salesmen the rest of their lives...

Yeah, but I guarantee you that within 2-3 years they would be World Series contenders. Cuban has as much, if not more, money that Tom Hicks and is a much cooler owner for sure!

How the hell do you not give them Blaylock + "Prospects" for a known power-type pitcher? You have to over pay inorder to get Ace Pitchers to Texas...
