Sweet...Texas steals #4 QB from SEC/Florida

4 star QB changes mind.........
Position Ranking: 4
Rivals.com Rivals100 2006 (78)
Rivals.com Rivals250 2006
Rivals.com Dual-threat quarterbacks 2006 (4)
Rivals.com preseason Texas Top 100 2006 (9)
Looks like he went from a soft verbal at Florida, to a hard verbal to Texas.

(from boards beyond)
Jevan's coach at Stephenville, Chad Morris, offered to be Jevan's buffer, and tell FL Coach Urban Meyer that Jevan had changed his mind on the Gators. But Jevan declined the offer, saying he had to tell Coach Meyer himself. So Jevan made the difficult call himself.

It appears the primary reason for Jevan going Texas was closeness to home, and not necessarily depth chart. Depth chart and national ranking didn't hurt, of course, but when push came to shove, Stephenville's only about 2 1/2 hours from Austin. Or as Jaylon Snead, Jevan's father, put it, "about 3/4 a tank of diesel."

Looks to me like Texas got an excellent gunslinger, but equally importantly, a young man with character and leadership. It took to some huevos to call Urban Meyer.

Great class. Thank you, Mack Brown.

Nothing wrong with that. I can recall a certain other black QB at Texas that debuted against one Oklahoma, and came out just fine....I think. Then there's inVINCEable....

I am glad the young man changed his mind, but the last time that happend it was Chris Simms. He commited to go to TN, but changed his mind. Everyone made such a big deal about that. Everyone thought we are gonna win National Championship and so on. And he couldnt even beat OU. I love Texas as much as anyone, but dont get to excited just yet Hookem.

it's not just Snead though, there will be 3 other qb's behind young next year that are SUPPOSED to be badass. Snead and the other guy will probably redshirt and the McCoy's will be the backups.

we have options
