Is that some sort of comeback? Texas won a NC earlier this year.

This is the same guy that's still arguing that "this decade" means 1995, because some documentary on NASCAR that he made up said it was.

They did. It was difficult to do much but get drunk during that game. TX lost, and I didn;t really care. Terrible, terrible. They were warned for years that they needed outside assistance, but they refused to allow it. End result: a lot of senseless death and injury. Sad, sad, day.

Well, as a person who was once actively involved in Bonfire I will say there is a serious misconception about not having outside help. The engineering professors for years had been assisting in the design for bonfire and had a well engineered setup for it to burn for about 20 minutes and designed to fall. The University could not allow that to be said because it would then be held responsible. The major contributing factor to the fall was human error and bad luck.

Not quoting from facts but my best guestimate given what I know about building the damn thing and what I saw, it appears that a substandard center pole was assembled and failed to be inspected or tossed due to the splits in the wood. Also contributing to it were the piss poor efforts to build it in a balanced manner to keep it from being overloaded on one side. The only thing that lacked on that build was common sense. Something that in the past had been monitored by a seasoned and responsible upper class. Sadly, that wasn't the case and the lack of serious responsibility and irresponsible use of alchohol is what caused that fall. NOT the lack of "outside" oversight. It would have certainly helped but was not the PRIMARY reason for failure. Not saying that is what you meant but just trying to put to rest some popular misconceptions.

sorry to go off topic but I get a little heated when people start discussing the bonfire incident when very few actually know about how it REALLY works.
