PWCToday Crowd

Was browsing the lone star forum and noticed a few of you are on there as well.

I'll be working on my 550/750 and superjet a bunch this winter...does anyone have any parts they wanna give up? how about a stand? Also going to have to do some work on my trailer, and a small wire feed welder would be super helpful

I'm hoping to have everything rolling and ready for the first warm day next season! Anyone else got big plans for their skis this winter?

I gave you a stand like 6 years ago... I think.

Gonna be working on my GP1200R prob for the rest of my life. After working on it all summer and I mean all summer in the freakin heat. It has been a huge let down. Finnaly thougt I had if fixed and took it out Sunday only to find out its still not fixed.

And now my superjet is locked up. Just went to start it and now I can't turn the motor by hand. It ran perfect every time I have taken it out then all the sudden this!!!! Punched the seat about 10 times and got my bat and beat the shit out of a tree in the back yard.

You did.. and it worked great until i scattered the engine in that 550! Moved up to vegas and the stand is now holding up someone elses ski.

Don't stress too much about the SJ. pull the plugs and check to see if maybe the cylinders rusted up a small amount. If you can break the motor free enough to turn over, i'm willing to bet you could save it.

LMK if you want a hand working on any of your stuff. What's the Gp1200 doing? I just went thru all sorts of BS with Marisa's gp760

I suspect the bendix if it has one or starter on the superjet, don't think its rust.

Now the GPR... god only knows what it is. I need to test the water jackets since it blew a fairly new crank seal and I think another one. I took it out on the first warm day this year and it developed an air leak after 10 minutes so I pulled the motor and fixed it. It was a crank seal. Then the exhaust manifold leaked, so I got one of those too. Put new pistons in while I was there. Passed the pressure test for the motor and seemed to pass the same test for the water jackets but not sure on those. I don't get it, I built the motor last summer and rode it all summer no problems. Then all this shit happens this year and took my whole summer away since I have spent all my time working on one of my skis.

If you can get a hammer in there, try plinking the starter a little bit.

Dunno what to tell you on the Gp12... if you want a hand or another set of eyes to troubleshoot, lemee know. I'm in town on weekends for now, but figure we could work something out.

I give her a wack tonight and if that dosent work pulling the cover is easy on that one.

I may have to have someone other than me to catch something stupid I missed. It has broken my mentaly a few times over the summer. I'll pull the exhaust when I cool off a bit and get some drive back.

I don't seem to have any of the 550 i was running. Was a ridiculously stout little bastard.

here's some with the 650 conversion we did before the 750 went in.

Sure is. All I did was take off the black dealie and took the flange from the inside and moved it to the outside. Had to drill the hole a bit bigger but thats it. The 86' up 550's had that style exhaust.

Yours looks good too. I bet that 750 is gonna be sick sounding bbbwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaa

Define ruff. Will it run, float, etc?

Oh yeah. Just will have torn up mats, faded paint and a dead battery but you should have no problem finding one that you can take straight to the lake for $500. I sold that black one for $1000 on a trailer. That was a hell of a deal since I paid $600 just for the paint. It was for sale again about a year ago somewhere around here.

Get one with a tittle only don't even bother with ones that dont have one. I would try for a 550 as the 440's are a little under powered.

Nice!

Here is my part list.

I have a oil pump, stator cover with a bad stator, oil tank, and a rigged up electrical cdi that I pulled off a 750 kawi if you need any of that stuff. And I think I still have my stock ride plate and prop from my 550.

The 550/750 will be complete when i get it.. the 01 rn sj is the one i'm more worried about.

I'll have it sometime around the second week of Nov..you're more than welcome to come check it out then. You were in Bedford, IIRC..?

I used to, as well as ride the motorcycle. Anymore if it's not comfortable to do so, i just wont get on the damn thing. I had a shorty wet suit i used at beginning and end of season, but it's been a while since i used it.

I'll stay busy on the dirtbike this winter.. and in the shop with the skis when i'm not.

96 Cobra- "Pinky" slow still.......
04 RXP- 75.6 mph on the GPS. My ski makes more power then Pinky.

At a boy!
fyi in case you don't do your own tuning
Dales Jet Sports in Sachse has an engine dyno for pwc's. He built a ski for his wife that was wicked fast. A Kawi with a turbo tuned at his shop mostly in his tank.

And on another note found out why my starter solinoid went out. Some how my jet pump bearings failed since that last time I rode it. I can't even turn th shaft when the pump unit is out of the ski! Hell I rode it in July!
